These presales are looking good for a sub-30M opening :hahaha:

I do think it’ll be more walk up based so $30M isn’t dead quite yet but $35M is deaded.

North Shore Cinema update

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation is running 300% ahead of Wrinkle ($140.4M OW), 240% ahead of Daddy’s Home 2 ($101.4M OW), 50% ahead of Wonder ($41.25M OW) and 14% ahead of Coco ($58M OW)

The latter two seem to be the best comparisons however this is on pace to be the second highest animated movie (behind I2) in presales I’ve tracked at North Shore. If reviews are about the same as the original which isn’t asking for much it should do somewhere in the $45M-$50M OW range.

Skyscraper is running 70% behind The Golden Circle ($12M OW), 60% behind Dunkirk ($20M OW), 58% behind Apes ($23.6M OW)

I know this will be walk up based but these presales regardless are awful. Thinking $25M-$35M OW.

North Shore Cinema update

Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation is running 191% ahead of Wonder ($78.7M OW), 105% ahead of Daddy 2 ($59.7M OW), 46% ahead of Wrinkle ($51M OW) and 23% behind Coco ($38.8M OW).

Although it probably won’t catch up to Coco, these are still great numbers. Although the fact it’s lagging behind Coco, it should still be good for at least $40M. I feel the floor is $40M and the ceiling is $50M. As for $50M+, Reviews are currently at 82% on RT and imo that can help for walkups and family film presale wise it seems there.

Skyscraper is running 76% behind Dunkirk ($12M OW) and 45% behind Orient Express ($15.7M OW)

Yes, I know they’re not the best comps but Skyscraper has only sold 11 tickets here, it is selling like shit. Walk ups will help but honestly $30M is dead. Thinking $25M-$28M OW.

Trolls 91
Sorry to 83
Beatles  60
Heredita 58
The Equa 36

Mothers planning the activity in advance is a possible phenomenon for a movie like HT vs a Skyscraper and obviously being a sequel, that said the delta between the 2 is quite huge at the moment. But even more than for a Jurassic Park, pre-sales much in advance much be such a tiny ridiculous fraction of a movie like that business that it must have a lot of noise if we could look at the usual multiplier (who are those people buying ticket in advance for movie like those.....).

Mamma Mia tend to outsell cleanly Mission Impossible since the beginning also (making the rumors it was tracking ahead not crazy at all)

What do these numbers mean?  Thanks!

Someone on this message board posted a python script running website that look at all the sales made on the fandango website that you can follow here:

https://www.fandango.com/dataviz/index.html

Instead of counting them by hands, the site he made does it for you:

http://akvalley.pythonanywhere.com/static/Fandango_track.txt

The numbers I posted is simply in excel accumulating all the sales of the days (combining 3d/imax/fan event's sales for the same movie into one number)

Someone posted the Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday before release cumulative fandango sales for a bunch of movies.  Is that available for Skyscraper for Monday?  I should probably be less lazy and keep track myself.

For those hoping for under $30M for HT, between my 1st local's set and its already gained $1M+ from June 30...ummm...you might be starting pretty far behind the 8-ball...again, while I don't have time for a full set, my 1st local (Cinemark) is giving TWO screens to HT3 (11 showings - 3 3d, 8 2d), while only 1 to Skyscraper (5 showings - 1 3d, 4 2d).  In other news, it is dropping I2 and JW2 to a single smallest screen each - Ant Man keeps 3 screens, but I think it will lose showings to Skyscraper if that movie's presales ever pick up b/c I don't think AM2 sold all that well there this past weekend...
