Quick update on SW9 previews.

SW9 Previews (T-18)

MTC1 - overall 5130 shows 309018/856207 4616602.65 +5138
MTC2 - overall 3058 shows 202956/448122 2586595.00 +7572

Really good increase in under day and half. I wonder what was the catalyst. There was no major increase in show counts as well. That will happen in the final week.

SW9 OD

MTC1 - overall 5343 shows 214763/1090435 3379625.17 post 6PM 2464 shows 128998/504375 2155923.01 +7182
MTC2 - overall 4432 shows 160521/725262 1818693.00 post 6PM 1690 shows 85045/285284 1096894.00 +4886

Very good increase for OD as well.

Preview sales have picked up compared to previous weeks and a couple of added showtimes to preview night has helped. Post-preview sales remain strong and have picked up a bit as well.

Prepping things up for Jumanji tonight. But I did a little dig into Playmobil. There's no Thursday previews (LOL), but I noticed that at almost all the theaters I looked at, tickets are only $5. Not a kids ticket, not an Atom deal. Just $5 period for any ticket. I get that this is the epitome of no1curr, but that is EMBARASSING :hahaha:

How good is Jumanji doing

It's only been a couple hours, so I can't say anything definitive. So far though, it's not anything astonishing, but there's arguably not that much of a rush to get tickets on Day 1 anyways. I'll be much more concrete tonight, though it still won't be perfect.

$5 could be the only way to sell a ticket for this movie...if they bring a BOGO with the $5, I'd take my boys...fun movie outing for 4 for $10, it could be any movie onscreen for me:)...

Don't know if this has already been posted but:

That honestly wouldn't be too bad for Cats since it should still leg it out to $70-80M total thanks to the holidays even if the reviews end up being horrible (though probably still headed for a loss considering it cost nearly $100M to make).

Wouldn't it have better legs (If it has good reviews and WoM) than that because its a musical? Les Miserables, Mary Poppins Returns, and The Greatest Showman did much better than that. I think it will pass 100 mil.

Most likely but that's all a big "if" lol (FWIW the movie is reportedly not being seen until right before it opens, supposedly because they're still working on the CGI, so...).

Do comedies really get much in the way of presales anyways? Maybe it is just me since I am not really much of a fan of comedies but to me that genre would be more of a day of type of purchase and not something people would be thinking all that much about weeks to a month in advance.

One thing to consider on Jumanji: The Next Level is the truncated sales window.  Being a family film, or at least close enough, it won't have a rush.  Still, only having 11 days of pre-sales should be kept in mind.  That's the same length of pre-sales that Joker had (which of course is a pretty terrible comp given the disparity in purchasing patterns for CBMs and family films) and it probably had a stronger launch than it would have if it had a more traditional three week plus run of pre-sales.

I only bring this up because I personally would expect a bit higher of an initial launch simply because of the window.  Maybe not a huge one, but I think it's something to factor in when we look at the first couple of days of sales.

Its early days but based on initial showcount its around where F2 started. But the count should go up closer to release. at Empire 25 it has already sold 258 tickets and has more shows than where F2 was.

Jumanji 2 Previews

MTC1 - overall 1510 shows 4647/323973 81133.93
MTC2 - overall 2667 shows 2327/436638 29127.00

Slow start but at least above all small movies I tracked over past 2 month. I think 5m previews would be good for this movie.

Playmobil was released back in the summer in the UK and it did abysmally. It barely even registered. The $5 ticket price is probably their way of trying to entice parents looking for a cheap cinema trip considering nobody wants to pay full price for it. I doubt it’ll work.
