Baywatch - 5 showings

3 Ultra Screen - 290 seats - 9 sold, 1 sold, 290 (SOLD OUT):what:

2 Normal Screen - 110 seats - 1 sold,  0 sold

Pirates 5 - 3 showings

3 Ultra Screen - 290 seats - 182 sold,  25 sold, 3 sold

Wonder Woman - 2 showings

2 Ultra Screen - 290 seats - 163 sold, 11 sold

Baywatch - 5 showings

3 Ultra Screen - 290 seats - 9 sold, 6 sold, 290 (SOLD OUT)

2 Normal Screen - 110 seats - 9 sold,  0 sold

Pirates 5 - 10 showings

3 Ultra Screen - 290 seats - 183 sold,  44 sold, 5 sold

Baywatch has a showing in 7 hours and tickets are picking up. It has one sold out showing, which is good but I am shocked the 7pm showings are selling.

Megan Leavey Special Screening is at #4 on Movietickets. The screenings are free for service members, just that tickets need to be claimed through Movietickets :rofl:

Quote

Members of active and retired military personnel will be able to see the movie Megan Leavey for free across the country at certain Regal Cinemas as Bleecker Street & LD Entertainment, AT&T THANKS, Regal Cinemas and MovieTickets.com are hosting 190 screenings for them.

So, same time update...mall theater decided to add 2 full theaters for Thursday night Pirates, but not yet for the rest of the weekend...so there's that...

Wed Baywatch (same showings) - 2 sold regular, 17 sold Dolby - up only 2 seats from yesterday - yes, this is gonna likely be my 1st big blown call of the summer...still going to see it and enjoy it!

Thurs Pirates (now 9 showings - 2 3d Imax, 3 3d - odd b/c sales suck in this format, and 4 regular) - 61 sold Imax 3d, 0 sold 3d, 41 sold regular - up 24 seats from yesterday...

These screens are 200-300 seat theaters for both movies - no small theaters picked for these two...

So, the mall theater for Baywatch still sucks, but it's weirdly 26 for Dolby and 2 for 2D (nothing sold for either 10pm showing)...so I thought folks might not be willing to brave horrible traffic to get there for 7pm and that may be why the Dolby is high (b/c it's 8pm)...

So, I checked my local theaters presales and it's actually outselling the huge mall theater at both of them - 34 tickets sold over 2 showings in 105 seat theaters at one and 39 tickets sold over 2 showings at 125 seat theaters at the other...so it's still bad, but it's better than I thought when I was only checking the mall site:)...

Okay, Pirates update also...same 9 showings...

74 sold Imax 3d, still 0 for the 3d (no idea why they added extras of these), and 56 2d...

North Shore Cinema (Mequon, WI) report:

5/24/17

Baywatch has two showings (7:00 and 9:50) for Wednesday previews and in Ultrascreen (PLF kind of like IMAX) both are looking miserable at about 10% from first glance.

32/301 sold for 7:00 showing - 10.6%

32/301 sold for 9:50 showing - 10.6%

64/602 total seats 10.6% sold.

Thinking sub $3M for previews

3D should just go away - or at most be confined to one showing in a smaller theater.  I'm noticing that Dolby Atmos showings have become the new it thing with earlier sellouts - but theaters actually have to upgrade their sound systems so it might not be worth it for them.

Pirates is looking somewhat decent though for Thursday previews.

4 showings (7:00, 7:30, 10:00, 10:30), 2/4 is in Ultrascreen (which it's selling the best in), no 3D though which is strange.

94/301 sold for 7:00 in USCN - 31.2%

3/105 sold for 7:30 - 2.8%

72/301 sold for 10:00 in USCN - 23.9%

2/105 sold for 10:30 - 1.9%

171/812 total seats - 21%

Last update on the night from me - Baywatch is definitely walking up...the 2 local theaters are now up to 44 and 61 seats for tonight...I wish I was gonna be around to see the last 75 minutes before showtime, but I gotta run...but this could be a good trend for the movie if walk ups here are like walk ups everywhere...

I don't really watch TV much (at least tv with commercials) and I've noticed a number ads for it.

Im pretty sure Fox isn't throwing it under the bus.  Over 100m should happen.

It's also getting a lot of its marketing on kids channels, so it does make sense people haven't seen ads for it.  It's clearly getting advertised tho.

Captain Underpants is DWA, it'll cross 100m. Probably like 115-120m.

I remember in 2014 people were talking about how Dreamworks was going to go under, with all of their expensive sequel flops and new IPs that looked unappealing.  How times have changed.

Prepare for Illumination film sized numbers once Universal takes control.
