I'm not really excited by the 80s setting (would have preferred doing it in today's time) but I'll trust Jenkins and Johns until they prove me wrong. And it lets them getting away from BvS and JL.

Yeah, the 80's setting is the most troubling aspect of the film of what we know. Literally any other decade since the first film would be a better setting. The 80's stuff just seems really played out and unappealing these days. But it's not like that will necessarily even matter much, unless they are gonna try to mine 80's pop culture like RPO, which I doubt.
