It was a scheduling problem (and real life). Good Dinosaur could not make Memorial Day, so Disney moved Maleficent from its 4th of July weekend slot, and Paul Walker's death left F7 delayed a year. 2 big movies from July just disappeared, and then Jupiter Ascending got delayed at the last minute as well leaving nothing in that entire month.

Lucy benefited massively from it too. Moved up from August 8 at the last minute and immediately became the main attraction of its week instead of one of five movies all crowded on the same date.

I don't know if the prequels are better than Rogue One, but they're more engaging/interesting. I'd rewatch the first two for lulz and some genuine creative effort over Rogue One, FWIW. And I liked TFA, so I'm not even on my high horse!

Rogue One's first 90 minutes is just a whole lot of nothing.

Every character and performance in that movie is boring af. Even actors I love like Riz or Mads are completely hamstrung. Didn't care about any of the characters at all. It's very pretty, gorgeously staged - Edwards really knows how to shoot a movie but dude cannot direct actors. At least Godzilla had strong build and atmosphere to go with the scale, this was just generic.

In your opinion. I think from a visual and filmmaking standpoint R1 is fantastic. The third act puts the prequels to utter shame.

RO was the best since Empire for me. The most impressive part IMO was how they managed to pack so much dramatic tension in the final act even though you already knew the ending. Obviously the Rebels had to make it out with the plans to preserve continuity with the Saga. But when Vader showed up in the hallway and started making his way towards the plans, I had a legit fear that we might be going into a Kelvin alt timeline.

It seems like once a month at our site we always go through who likes the Star Wars films who doesn't like the prequels how much Rogue one sucked or how good it was or how good the force awakens was and so on.

How about we discuss something else besides the same old stuff. Let's discuss how much Chariots of Fire sucks or how good it was. Or how good On Golden Pond is or how much it sucks. Or how good down and out in Beverly Hills is or how much it sucks. Anything but Star Wars. We beating that horse so badly after its death that it's not even recognizable anymore.

Rogue One is decent but I've had no urge to watch it again. Say what you will about TFA flaws but it had much, much more engaging and interesting characters. Abrams is a good actors director. Rogue One's characters, besides the robot, were only okay. Everyone was talking about Rey, very few were talking about Jyn. She doesn't compare.

I'd nominate 80's comedy...we seem to be in a year with no "fresh" comedy, and yet (my little kid self) found practically every comedy I watched in the 80's memorable...

So, let's talk about most underrated character comedy actor from that period - I am amazed that Michael Winslow did not become as big over the years as say, Eddie Murphy, b/c I thought everything he did was awesome:)...

Did this work for you, baumer?:)

I won't be making anymore Star Wars posts in this thread by the way. That was all I had to say.

I think it'll happen with a fudge.

Wonder Woman s box office run in the USA is way too irrational to draw any conclusion from it.

It is what it is, a weird phenomenon from Venus.

Tell me about it!!! Taking my wife for the 3rd time (4th time for her) tomorrow. I loved the movie but I'm done, they need to take it out from our movie theater.  WW fatigue is real.. :-( I asked to see SM:H with me (since she skipped it and I went with my son on OD) but she still got zero interest in seeing it. I even begged her to go and see Apes but nope, no luck at all. Therefore, I will be watching WW for the 4th time tomorrow. :-(

I could see that, which is fine as every studio does it.

I'm happy that I was wrong and that Edgar Wright has a real honest to god hit movie. And believe it or not I want to be wrong about Atomic Blonde as well. I love Charlize.
