Titanic is still one of my favourites of all time.

James Cameron sounds like a bit of a prick though. Not just because of the WW comment, but isn't it reported that he's really difficult to work with?

This is an awful weekend, I hope Annabelle wins.

So no numbers from anyone tonight, right? I guess they'll put up the low numbers Saturday morning.

I think because of the fight, projecting the weekend numbers based on Friday estimates is itself going to be tough. Has to be the most boring weekend of the year. If WONDR had not crossed 400 or SM1, then this weekend could have gotten fun. But movies that are doing well will do well, there aren't doing well are not gonna turn around this weekend due to television events on Sat and Sun, and also the hurricane. Annabelle 2 winning the weekend would be note-worthy though. Horror sequel looses top spot in 2nd weekend but bounces back in the 3rd weekend...when does that ever happen.

Also FUUUUUCK I knew it would happen someday, just wasn't looking forward to it being tonight.

There were these 2 kids (teenagers, say like 14 or 15) that went to Hitman's Bodyguard for the late night show (guy and a girl as a date), and they at first tried to sneak into terminator but they didn't get in obviously. So I just would check every so often to make sure they were in the right movie. As soon as I saw their heads in the back corner aisle I was satisfied and left them alone. Then when I go in at the end of the night to clean there's jizz on the floor in front where they were sitting, and then napkins crumpled up, presumably with more... in them... they didn't order popcorn so idk what else they would have done🤢

like fuck, that's fucking gross

Paramount just stopped tracking Transformers after 9 weeks. 130m was all they wanted, couldn't even be bothered to stick around for Labor Day.

130M Domestic, 600M WW and they stopped. No further milestones or round figures in sight. Didn't double the 5 day opening in the end.

I am glad this was brought up because this has been bugging me for a year....

So Transformers ended its run after a week like this:

btw...9th full week for Transformers

Aug 11–17 25 $377,372 -18.0% 255 -67 $1,480 $129,928,855 8
Aug 18–24 30 $239,828 -36.4% 224 -31 $1,071 $130,168,683 9

Now look at X-Men: Apocalypse ending at its 9th full week:

Jul 15–21 20 $441,421 -28.6% 250 -38 $1,766 $155,149,510 8
Jul 22–28 29 $292,979 -33.6% 194 -56 $1,510 $155,442,489 9

And Batman V Superman which presumably fell just short of a 2x multiplier:

Jun 3–9 17 $435,468 -43.9% 270 -91 $1,613 $330,055,241 11
Jun 10–16 23 $304,953 -30.0% 215 -55 $1,418 $330,360,194 12

Ghostbusters won top grossing comedy of 2016 after being tracked for 17 weeks:

Nov 4–10 56 $25,462 -51.4% 47 -44 $542 $128,350,574 17

But what about Central Intelligence? (stopped at week #11)

Aug 19–25 26 $358,239 -38.5% 256 -39 $1,399 $127,191,219 10
Aug 26–Sep 1 36 $249,652 -30.3% 206 -50 $1,212 $127,440,871 11

Sorry for the big size letter dramatics, but this has really really bothered me for a year.  Can we please get this figured out this weekend?  It will help to clear my mind of one thing.

Anyone notice how pretty much every Cameron film starts with an A or a T?😂 One of the guys that came to T2 tonight pointed that out lmao

His next movie should be the story of the world's largest telecom company, AT&T :sparta:

Never thought POTC5 OS (618m with 3-4m left in the tank) would beat TF5 WW.

hmm....the numbers are so low but I think it is because most schools are back in session.  Looking at 2016 and 2006(day and date comparison), Saturday jumps are much stronger than the previous week and most Sundays are up on Friday.  It is hard to judge how this weekend will play out.  I think Saturday will jump higher than most of us think it will. Maybe Saturday will just jump identical to last week.  So if Emoji jumped 45% last week, it just 45% this week as opposed to 75% this week (cuz of the fight).  Instead of Sundays being at or above Friday, Sundays should be equal to Friday or slightly below (cuz of GOT finale), but still see a better Fri/Sunday ratio than last week since schools are in session which should boost Sunday up a bit.  Anyway, nothing you can do but wait until Monday for this week.  I just hope Birth of the Dragon does not drop from its actual Friday and get below 2.5 million for the weekend.

Dunkirk better increase next week.  Dunkirk should seriously attempt to occupy every premium screen it possibly can during the 4-day Labor Day weekend!!!  I think it has taken a hit loosing IMAX.  I am not sure it has benefited the IMAX company to not have Dunkirk the last 2 weeks.  Next week IMAX is booked with Inhumans, so hopefully it gets all premiums available!

TITANIC

AVATAR
TRUE LIES
TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY

THE ABYSS

ALIENS

THE TERMINATOR

The same guy.. amazing.

The sjw's have no respect and probably don't even realise who they're shit talking.

"Oh this WHITE MAN said something bad about wonder women, attack fellow hermaphrodite troglodytes!"

Jim has never bent his knee in his life, if they think he's going to apologise for his comments they've got another thing coming.

Greatness is something that comes with extreme hard work and vision.

When the people you're working with don't share your enthusiasm and are treating it as just a job, it pisses you off.

How do you think he felt when a British crew wanted a damn tea break every 30 minutes.

How do you think he felt when a crew member is mentally absent looking down at his phone or even worse takes a phone call when you're shooting.

How do you think he felt when a douchebag executive walks in and starts giving suggestions on how to make it better.

Jim is an inheritable nice guy, however he got the crew to follow his vision the only way he knew how at the time.

How can you fault him for this, you think he could have made the films he made without his hard love and iron will?

Without Jim's Iron Will he would have sold The Terminator script for big money, instead of selling it for nothing on the condition he can direct the film. Executives would have had say in his final cuts and he would have got walked over (like most directors, think Kingdom of Heaven and Blade Runner). Giving the finger to the executives take extreme conviction and courage, these arrogant executives which would have cast OJ as The Terminator and Jack would have lived at the end of Titanic. God knows what else they wanted, the same conviction that dealt with these executives would have rubbed a lot of crew members the wrong way.

Right now Jim is actually much more mellow and laid back on set, but you have to ask if that is only possible because his reputation and that he has the respect of his team. Jim had no respect back in 1984 or 1986 when he was a young director.

I clearly disagree with Cameron's opinion (because OF COURSE the 1st good female superhero movie ever made is a stepback, right?), but whatever, people are going waaaayyyyy too up and arms about it. Nobody liked Terminator Genisys, so maybe that was his way of have revenge :P (Though honestly I don't think even he actually liked it, despite having said so)

Meanwhile, fuck this weekend. Dammit, my HB over 90M is really not looking so hot right now, I thought it still had a chance if it followed Let's Be Cops closely, but nope... unless DHD is again massively off with their early estimates, but even if they are for Friday, no chance that the Saturday hold will be that nice due to Mayweather vs. McGregor and the Hurricane Harvey tragedy. It will probably still be #1 (or at least it will fight it out with Annabelle), but..... yeah, not too great to say the least. And let's not even talk about the new releases - though Leap is falling very much where I expected it.

The ways things are right now, I wouldn't be shocked if either Wind River or Wonder Woman (or both, even) cracked the top 5.

EDIT: Aaaand there you go, Wind River actually looks to be in the top 5 :P Annabelle's drop seems a bit too harsh, I think. It'll improve on that, almost for sure. Nut Job 2 not even in the notables? Christ, what a disaster.

I wonder how low next weekend's #1 is going to be, sweet sister. Unless WR or Ingrid pull a big expansion and reach closer to 10M. Otherwise, we could see a Hitman's Bodyguard at #1 w/around 7-6M for the 3-day. Y-I-K-E-S.
