Welp there goes the last spot SpiderVerse 2 could’ve fled to where it wouldn’t die. 
 

Anyways interesting calendar. The spot was originally for a Dreamworks movie (probably the Luca rip-off they were working on) but Illumination has both the April and June slots next year, so would Dreamworks get September and November? Anyways guessing Covid caused a ripple effect of delays for animators.

FWIW Super Nintendo World is supposed to be opening at Universal Studios Hollywood next year so doesn't seem far-fetched of an idea that they want the release for this this to be tied in with the opening for that (possibly even having the movie's premiere there). I'm sure Chris Pratt won't be complaining since Guardians 2 will be a few weeks from opening and can easily promote two movies at the same time.
