Even with Rth like my post of $27m, but honestly I still feel there is something fishy here.....especially with intention of 2nd image remained unsolved....

He might be playing a joke on us, just to see the forum go nuts. Might turn out the real number is closer to $35m... ;)

That Jumanji number for Christmas Day is simply stunning. People were really interested in watching a light-hearted, fast-paced romp. The Christmas season can accommodate multiple big hits and Jumanji is filling one of those slots this year. After Baywatch flopped, I wasn’t sure if Jumanji would be the vehicle for him to reclaim his leading role star power. Boy, was I wrong.

Like I mentioned earlier the only seats I could find four together was a 9:30 am showing.  Everything else was close to a sellout or scattered front row

Early showings are booking up faster around here. Out of 16 showings at one place, only the 3 latest showings do you have hope for more than one person, if you don't want the front row. I almost wonder why they even bother with that front row.

Would be cool, but I honestly doubt that.

I just tried to give this film okay daily etc. drops and according to that the film would finish with just 605 Mio, which seems awfully low.

Blue means weekend, green is Christmas Eve, the Darker Gold are X-mas and Boxing Day and New Years Day, the lighter gold is for the days between the years (so 27th-30th) and teal is for a normal holiday (MLK / President's Day / Memorial Day etc.)

The only thing that could save this meltdown is that he posted a 27 number and then he posted an eight number. We all assumed the number was between 27 and 28. But if it was 27 + 8 which is obviously 35 and that makes it a much more normal close to 100% jump and even though I didn't care for the movie I really hope the jump is more than 55%

I doubt that since @EmpireCity said the number could be closer to 28  (dont know the exact page).

It was never going to gross as much as TFA. But with much better WOM it might have come close to $800m.

A less than 15% drop?  Only one sequel to a mega blockbuster ever dropped that little - Spider-Man 2 and it was a great movie, better that the first.  It also opened mid summer instead of May and benefited from school free days.

So much of legs with mega blockbusters is that the buzz of being so huge brings in an audience that would normally not go see the movie. A significant part of this audience doesn't return for the sequel be it for SW, Jurrassic Park, Jaws, Avengers or TDK.

TLJ is acting just like the other middle SW film - lesser legs - except it's opening while HUGE wasn't bigger because that's almost impossible.

In good news for TLJ (since it's rare), discount Tuesday theaters (although not reg price ones) are finally selling the late shows - for my tracked discount Tuesday local, the 10:30pm show has only 3 rows left and the 11:20pm actually has a sold seat early (and has about 15-20 in all)...1st time all week 10:30 is likely looking at an eventual virtual sellout and 11:20pm sells anything (and it will probably sell more as people decide they'd rather pay 1/2 price and be inconvenienced vs waiting another week)...

It's also stabilized on MT.com vs Jumanji...

So, I'd say today's number probably won't be as disappointing as yesterday (although I guess it depends what numbers you think are realistic, since I saw many unrealistic ones to start the day yesterday:)...

I can't understand everybody now just shitting on The Last Jedi, as if it was a terrible movie. I can understand people not liking it for some reasons, even thought I loved it, but saying that i's actually bad? We're taking about the best reviewed big blockbuster since The Return of The King (metacritic), that is really saying something. I feel like just because the general wom doesn't seem great, that makes it a bad movie. You wouldn't do that to say: Manchester by The Sea, or Whiplash, just because they were not huge box office successes. Even Coco, which seems to be considered one of the best animations of all time is having relatively bad legs for animation this time of the year, and we don't just jump to attack it as being a piece of crap just because of that.
