I'm trying to get a clear psychological profile from this and drawing a blank.

Can't get a solid read.

Probably shouldn't have dropped outta CIA psychological forensics school.

Can you give me a hot take on Shape of Water and Disaster Artist?

I thought Shape of Water was really weird, I mean it wasn’t bad at all, it was even pretty good. But dang what a weird movie. I liked the atmosphere created and the way it was shot. I didn’t care as much for the characters. I haven’t seen Disaster Artist (they didn’t send it), but I want to! It sounds funny.

For me, I have to find a story interesting, so you will know it’s a complete failure to me if it ever checks the box “ordinary people doing ordinary things.” Dramatically I believe that’s unforgivable and violates a basic principle of scripting. The Post, Molly’s Game, and Darkest Hour are all

about very interesting people and circumstances in some cases historic. Lady Bird... about a teenage girl who is actually extremely annoying and not in any way whatsoever special. It’s amazing it gets 99%, I would give it an F flat out. Worst movie I saw this year.

The Lone Ranger is visually stunning and ambitious enough that I really, really wanted to at least like it, but I feel like Johnny Depp's nails-on-a-chalkboard-annoying performance and Disney's (understandable) decision to rein in Gore Verbinski's weirder instincts ultimately hold it back. Now that Disney makes only a handful of very specific types of films, I'm kinda stunned that The Lone Ranger ever got greenlit.

Looking at this weekend's releases, I'm still taken aback that a lightly re-branded January dump is now a major studio's sole Christmas offering. I know Warner Bros had some huge hits this year and undoubtedly didn't want to risk sacrificing too appealing of a film against The Last Jedi, but... Bastards? Father Figures? That's your Christmas movie?

“There’s no way Last Jedi will increase anywhere near 50%.”

I will wait until late tonight but trust me when I say I will be back to say I told you so. I’ve waited all week - and some people will be paying up for their shitty predictions.

That is impressive for The Last Jedi. Fantastic Friday jump if true.

Jumanji is the hit Sony needed. Now, to spin-off it into a cinematic Universe...

Greatest Showman imploded, as expected.

@WrathOfHan Queen looking good as well. It will end well above 100M.
