Wednesday Numbers: TLJ $5.1 million

RO also had strong Wom in North America

And it grossed $65m less on opening weekend. Helps the legs.

SM1 - 3.51 multi (114.8 OW)

TDK - 3.36 multi (158.4 OW)

Avengers - 3.00 multi (207.4 OW)

All three of the above in the same genre with record-breaking OW's followed by great WOM and strong legs. The only difference is that the opening weekends kept getting bigger and the multipliers get smaller as a result of the bigger OW.

The Wednesday drop doesn't look too shabby now that the whole top 12 has been reported. Not great, but not horrible when compared with the rest of the films in play right now.

30-35% is normal. The Monday/Tuesday numbers are a bigger issue. Monday in particular screwed over the rest of this week since it failed to jump by anywhere near the amount other films were jumping.

That Darkest Hour TC is SWINGING :jeb!: Good to see Molly get an extra 100 theaters too

Looks like Fox scrapped SOW's 1k+ expansion this week.

Father Figures is staying around at a lot of theaters. I wonder if WB gave theaters any incentives.

I am not sure who the hell said it would hit 800 million, sounds like some BS.

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=4354

"a domestic performance anywhere from $750-830 million feels a safe bet"

Some were even holding out for 750-800 after the disappointing Christmas weekend.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/star-wars-last-jedi-dips-at-christmas-box-office-1070314

"Its lifetime run is expected to include $750 million to $800 million in North American ticket sales."

RO - 1B

TLJ - 1.3B

TFA 2.07B

RO's gross is more impressive, No luke, no sequel, basically no force, no lightsabers, no jedi and only 300m less than TLJ.  Im sorry but its a little disappointing for TLJ. The lowest of all ranges were 1.3b. 6 months ago that was considered the worst it could do. Well its doing that. Its a HUGE hit, no doubt. But 1.5/1.6 is where it should of landed and im sure where disney wanted.

TFA disney's numbers before release was 1.3B. So TFA over preformed for them, TLJ hit there range but the low end im sure after it was revised up post TFA.

Just like Iron Man 3 with Avengers, Rogue One benefited from being the first Star Wars being released after TFA.

Avengers = TFA

IM3 = Rogue One

Ultron = Last Jedi

Solo = Civil War??

Civil War basically matched IM3. Not sure Solo will get anywhere near Rogue One, but that would be pretty awesome if it happens.

Age of Ultron only did 100m less than Avengers WW its not quite the same thing

My whole point is that I think whatever Star Wars movie released after TFA was always overperform compared to what would get released in the following years.
