Weekend Thread | Estimates per BOM ~ BP 65.7M, RS 17M, DW 13M, GN 10.7M, PR 10M, ANL 5.65M, J:WTTJ 4.5M, FSF 3.3M, TGS 2.68M

BP needed 2.65x to beat TDK after a 202 ow. By no means at that time it was locked. No one knew how it would hold up and how much it was front-loaded. It didn't have consistent holidays like Dec or Summer has. DP's multiplier of the 3-day was 2.74x and sub-2.65x for BP with it's huge previews and ow would have been just fine. But it could cross 550 by next Sunday.

497.6 + 18 Mon-Thu (-44%) + 34.5 FSS (-44.5%) = 550.1

some of them could be just to save the date if they are unsure of the schedule and gives them flexibility. they seem to have reserved early october every year which is interesting. the other dates make more sense (early nov, summer, feb 4-day weekend)

Aladdin (2019) Buena Vista 5/24/19
Toy Story 4 Buena Vista 6/21/19
The Lion King (Live Action) Buena Vista 7/19/19
Artemis Fowl Buena Vista 8/9/19

Are the audiences for Jumanji and TGS aware of there is some other new movies out there every week? Do they know black panther is now in release? Why these two movies are so undropable!!!

Isn't Avatar 2 going to be a Disney movie?

Disney owns the movie but not using their brand, I believe. I just know what ever is getting released on the Untitled Disney Live Action V (2020), DEC 23rd  is going to have a really hard time.

Its probably just a placeholder date. Weve seen these 2+ years away-movies move all the time. Mulan was originally coming out this year i believe and now its in March 2020.

Man, I didn’t realize how out of the norm a 60 million 3rd weekend woud be until I saw this list.

I didn’t either! Damn, Black Panther just stays massive/record-breaking. What a phenom...Hope to help by contributing tonight, which would be my third time seeing it. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will hit that nice, round $500 million mark by tomorrow. Come on, Disney! Black Panther didn’t need your help the last two weekends, and may not need t for this one, but if it does, I think it’s more than earned the rare Disney fudge. #letsgo

Yuppity. Homecoming sequel which could outopen the original + Lion King which has a strong 200M+ OW shot + Top Gun sequel + New Line horror movie + Terminator reboot + Fast & Furious spin-off all set in the same month. Plus June leftovers (Toy Story, in particular).

No way one of these doesn't move. Terminator and Hobbs & Shaw have the best shot of it.

Another month that is starting to become a Death month is November. This year's has one or two massive releases every weekend; 2019 already has Frozen 2, Wonder Woman 2, an untitled Disney live-action flick (it really should be either Dumbo or Aladdin tbh, I wouldn't keep these two w/such a small separation from each other and Lion King), James Bond 25, Death On The Nile and Sonic The Hedgehog slated.

a 39% drop off a $17m OW is fine but nothing remarkable, and doesn't even promise a 3.5x multiplier in the end. Just in terms of R-rated comedies, "great" applies to something like The Hangover's 27% drop off a $45m OW in summer, or Bridesmaids' 20% drop after a $26m OW. This is middle-of-the-road at best.
