Disappointed 'Rampage' dropped so hard, but not totally surprised, given how overwhelming the competition is (and the loss of IMAX screens surely hurt it). Doesn't look very good for a sequel now. =/ 120 Budget x 2.5= 300, which means it will break even, but not much more. *Shrug* It seems like the new golden age of monster movies is probably over circa 2020 when 'Godzilla vs. King Kong' comes out, leaving only more Japanese properties to continue on afterwards. Anyone else saddened by this? Monster movie fans?

From IMDB.

Worst score discrepancies in Marvel (US vs Overseas). Typically an average hollywood film will be -0.2/0.3

Inf. War 9.1/9.0 (-0.1)

Dr Str. 7.5/7.4 (-0.1)

IronMan3 7.2/7.1 (-0.1)

IronMan2 7.0/6.9 (-0.1)

Guardians2 7.8/7.6 (-0.2)

Ant Man 7.2/7.0 (-0.2)

Thor 2 7.1/6.9 (-0.2)

Thor 3 8.1/7.8 (-0.3)

Ultron 7.5/7.2 (-0.3)

Thor 7.2/6.9 (-0.3)

Hulk 7.0/6.7 (-0.3)

Avengers 8.3/7.9 (-0.4)

Guardians 8.3/7.9 (-0.4)

Iron Man 8.1/7.7 (-0.4)

Spider H. 7.7/7.3 (-0.4)

Black Panther 8.0/7.5 (-0.5)
Cap Ami 7.2/6.7 (-0.5)

Winter Sol 8.1/7.5 (-0.6)

Civil War 8.1/7.5 (-0.6)

Captain America franchise is the worst offender. Black Panther is also pretty bad. Huge surprise is Doctor Strange well and truly on top. The Thor franchise also fairs pretty well.

Interesting to see that not a single movie has a higher overseas score compared to US one.

On the other hand completely expected that movies like BP, CW, WS big discrepancy as they are as action packed as the OS markets like. I am surprised however that guardians 2 is so high on the list. I expected the difference to be greater as many OS countries had difficulty understanding a lot of jokes and references

BTW how do u get this separate score?

From Deadline

Quote

Screen Engine/ComScore’s PostTrak scores are huge showing 93% overall positive so far which bests the positive score for both Avengers: Age of Ultron (90%) and Captain America: Civil War (88%). Five amazing stars for Infinity War. Audience makeup is 66% guys to 34% females which is the same breakdown as Civil War. Fifty-eight percent are over 25 for Infinity War versus 51% over 25 for Civil War and 55% under 25 for Age of Ultron.

Interesting note about the age gap.  The change in release date may have affected student attendance after all.  Makes for a more interesting Saturday.

won't miss 400 ww even with 90 dom imo

135 china

150 current os-china (150+ is likely)

france+germany+japan yet to come...25 combined or more

90+135+150+25 = 400

385-390 ww is the floor (3.25x the prod budget)

Or all the people who were under 25 when Civil War was out are now over 25

Holy crap what an awesome movie.

Loved it! They really cranked up everything to 11 with this one.

My audience was laughing so much I missed many lines :WHATanabe:

Also, RTH delivering the salvation again! Get this man a pennant!

To get the breakdown you have to click on number of voters just below the score.

There are few notable ones that have +0.1 (some of the Transformer films and BvS). Lord of the Rings series are even. Avatar has +0.2. Overall it is EXTREMELY rare for Hollywood film to get higher, foreign releases do it more frequently (obviously).

@EmpireCity gets to live for another day post 'till another blockbuster, I see. RebWGyw.png  Good to see, as I like having him around, the occasional gruff posts and all.

At 237m, OW record can't be off the table now, depending on how conservative that Sat, Sun increase/drops are.

Might not be likely still, but the possibility can't be ignored, either.  Especially if we get a Rth bomb tonight or tomorrow.

Still think that the OW record could be in play (it's remarkably subdued here for the biggest true Friday ever), but the absolute best-case scenario is probably squeaking by TFA.

I think it looks good for biggest true Friday and Saturday ever, also a very real shot at best Sun ever. It just seems a little less exciting because I’ve been expecting both for weeks. Human psychology can be funny sometimes.

Just now, TalismanRing said:

Considering how vague they were on Thur with early reporting and how they managed to miss the actual number while still having a range of $9m ($45, maybe $36-38, then $40-45) it's surprising they gave the Friday numbers and w/e chart at 9:30pm PST.

:rofl: I think they have given $95m-$105m for friday for extra safety this time.

Might've been wrong earlier - an A Cinemascore and better exit polling than Civil War/Ultron is awesome for a movie with an ending this bleak. I think it'll come within spitting distance of the record depending on what kind of family bump it gets Saturday.

Is that China number accurate? I haven't seen much of an update on the INT numbers for Rampage (llikely due to IW'S impending release). If 400m could be achieved, that would be a solid hit, if nothing too incredible. Still not sure of a sequel given the only alright reaction domestically (not to mention it would be Pacific Rim situation, and we all have seen how that story played out), but it's nice to see a monster movie do well outside the Monsterverse. Sequel chances, in your opinion? The Rock loves to keep busy, so I don't know if he'd even have time.
