Ocean's 8 Weekend Thread | O8: 41.5...Solo 15.1...DP2: 13.6...Hereditary: 13.0

It's time for Ocean 8 to come out and this will be the weekend thread! With this weekend thread we will be trying out some new rules with the old rules.

 

1) We are here to discuss the box office of ALL movies. This means Ocean's 8. This means Solo. This means Action Point. This means Infinity War. This means Upgrade. This means Deadpool 2. This means Overboard. You get the gist. Box office comps with other movies not currently out are fine obviously but let's not let this be dominated by franchises. If you want to pit franchises against each other, go to the Franchise War thread. 

2) Be Nice or Get Out: We feel like the forum has become a bit too toxic at times. If you aren't being nice, don't be surprised if you get points or threadbanned. We don't just mean nice to specific users or people: we mean even when talking about groups of people. 

3) Leave Your Agenda at Home: We get it. You think the MCU or SW or DC or James Cameron movies is the best franchise of all time. The others are mere pretenders. We have a Franchise War thread. Let's stop fighting these silly fanboy wars and start celebrating movies as a whole. If you can't do this in the weekend thread, the staff has every right to threadban you and give you warning points.

4) One Movie, One Thread: The Solo OW and last weekend saw a lot of TLJ discussion. Other weekends can be dominated by one movie. This can be fine sometimes but frankly it can also be tiring most times. If you want to only talk about a specific movie and it's specific box office, consider using the movie's main thread. If we feel a certain movie is dominating too much this weekend, we might direct you guys to that movie's thread.

5) Spoilers Get You Banned: Don't spoil movies in here of any movie currently out in theaters or you will be banned from the forum. This means Ocean's 8 spoilers. This means Solo spoilers. This means Action Point spoilers. This means Infinity War spoilers. This means Upgrade spoilers. This means Deadpool 2 spoilers. This means Overboard spoilers. You get the gist.

6) Politics Suck: This weekend we see the release of an all-female Ocean's 8. If people say they like it, great! They liked it. If people said they didn't like, it, well it's too bad they didn't get a movie they liked! Regardless, I don't want to see people going after people who didn't like Ocean's 8 for political reasons (and vice versa). This is not an MRA forum. This is not a SJW forum. This is a box office forum where movie lovers should be able to discuss if they liked movies or not without fear of political attacks. This will be true for any other movie currently out as well. 

7) Sunshine Policy: It's still in effect.

We've also extended the flood control from 30 seconds to 90 seconds to give you guys some more time to think about reacting negatively against people.

was thinking ow = 10-11x the previews. so a 40 ow entails 3.5-4m previews.

 

Edit: Considering summer preivews are healthier and that Ocean's 8 is part of a franchise, would consider sub-3m previews bad.

Bad Moms 1 did 2.1m and Bad Moms 2 did 2.6m. Those were R-rated but still, O8 should manage more.

That was in the mid 80s last night with about 1700/1800 votes.  There's not an actual fan review on the site but supposedly 400+ people ran out to see previews last night and they all pretty much hated it because they were able to drop the % by about 40 points.

I still think Oceans 8 is opening in the mid 40s. Anything under 40 or over 50M would kinda shock me.

Ocean’s actual score is probably 75-80%. The trolls aren’t dragging it down as much as I expected.

This is a good score for Hereditary.

I can't wait to see the grosses of all three of the new releases, and I also can't wait to see what the two marquee limited releases of the week, the documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor? and the coming-of-age drama Hearts Beat Loud, are able to gross as well. This is an exciting week.
