So should we expect CM to be similar to SS's $133.8M OW DOM as well? SS was released in August. March releases perform differently. It could end up anywhere between 140-160M. If that's correct then the OD record was broken? Seriously I need some detail reports because this is crazy. That would put IW's 5-day OW (which is the biggest ever) as a realistic target for CM!
Cooper Legion
@nguyenkhoi282 with an estimate that Vietnam OD ($1.4M) is either 1st or 2nd biggest of all time, depending on how IW previews were handled: 1

There's a detailed breakdown for Indonesia somewhere in this thread. I think Day 2 is inflated because of a holiday. Related to Buddhism if I remember what they discussed correctly. terrestrial
https://www.screendaily.com/box-office/captain-marvel-blasts-off-to-987m-worldwide-in-first-two-days/5137516.article Quote After two days in release, Captain Marvel is already blazing a trail at the global box office, soaring to an estimated $98.7m including early estimates from China, according to Disney distribution executives. The 21st and latest entry in the Marvel Studios canon starring Brie Larson took $44m internationally excluding China, where early estimates indicate a March 8 launch of approximately $34m, which would be the second highest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) opening day behind Avengers: Infinity War. Early numbers put the tentpole on $5.9m in South Korea, $2.9m in France, and $1.5m in Italy since the Wednesday launch in those territories. In the locales where Captain Marvel opened on Thursday, the blockbuster-elect stands at $4.8m in Indonesia, $3m in Brazil, $2.5m in Australia, $2.1m in Russia, $1.9m in Thailand, $1.8m in Taiwan, $1.7m in both Malaysia and Philippines, and $1.5m in both Germany and Hong Kong. Remaining territories have delivered $112m. It opens on Friday in the UK, China, Mexico and Spain, among others and will be active everywhere this weekend except Japan, where it is scheduled to debut on March 15. Meanwhile North America has generated $20.7m in Thursday previews, scoring the fifth highest preview grosses for an MCU release behind the second and third Avengers films, Black Panther, and Captain America: Civil War. Captain Marvel opens officially in North America on Friday in 4,310 theatres. Overall, the film is ranking as the number one western release in all markets as well as the highest March debut in many and highest first stand-alone character MCU opening day in most. Highlights include the second highest opening day in industry history in Brazil, behind only Avengers: Infinity War, as well as one of the highest ever opening days in Indonesia. Compared to the same bucket of territories at today’s exchange rates, Disney sources said Captain Marvel was currently pacing ahead of comparable first-instalment MCU films such as Black Panther, Doctor Strange and Ant-Man in most territories. The studio will release a more comprehensive round-up on Sunday.

And Thursday was a holiday so the number for Wed would be less than that, but then it doesn't add up to $4.8M. Maybe that $2.2M was actually for Wed. That's why I need the official reports for confirmation. Btw, I was the one who gave the explanation about the holiday 😅. And it's related to Hinduism not Buddhism. 1

Assuming they will be around same only today, it will be $20mn in these markets and markets that opened Wednesday. Markets remaining, that debuted on Thursday are Argentina, Brazil, Singapore and some other South American/Europe markets. Black Panther would have grossed $5mn approx in these markets, Captain shall do $7mn range. This gives $27mn Approx Thursday. Let's wait for official numbers. $42mn estimated till Thursday. Expect $75-80mn Friday, 100-105mn Saturday and $85-90mn Sunday. Kudos to you! The $42mn estimate is only off by less than 5%!!!
oMeriMombatti
Captain Marvel Big First Day Captain Marvel had a very good first day at the box office with collections in the 13.50-14 crore nett range. This is the highest Hollywood opening day day collection after Avengers - Infinity War which went to a huge 30 crore nett plus number. The film does not have much to offer the Indian audience especially in the dubbed languages but the Marvel branding is too strong. The opening practically ensures a good first weekend which will probably be next to Avengers - Infinity War. The film has registered better opening day occupancy at multiplexes better than all Hindi films in 2019. Single screens are less than Total Dhamaal. https://www.boxofficeindia.com/report-details.php?articleid=4803

Is it about the translation was done badly?
