I don’t really know if the Flash movie would’ve fared that much better if they kept the ending with Michael Keaton and Sasha Calle at the courthouse. I would’ve much preferred it over the joke ending they ultimately went with, but the film had a bunch of other problems besides that.

Sometimes things change in test screenings. The first cut of Deadpool 2 did poorly, they snipped a bit and changed a few scenes and it went much better.

 

That first cut ended up becoming the "Super Duper" extended cut

It's guaranteed to be the biggest hit of the DC films released this year. The original was an international monster and I think it will be the same again here. Unsure about domestic though.

If you take away the first film's entire run from the US and China it still grossesed over 500 million and would beat the 2.5 rule for the sequel's budget.

I'm inclined to believe this more than just "oooh the studios are gonna delay because of the mean strike ooooh" because if Aquaman needs more reshoots they have to wait to do them.

With this many consecutive bombs in a row they may not have a choice. Moving their last best hope before Joker (which should definitely break even at minimum because of how cheap it is in comparison) and deciding "yeah 2023 is a wash" isn't crazy
