What’s happening King of the Monsters  (sequel decreasing after following a negatively received movie) is also a preview of what will happen with Rise of Skywalker this December. Though obviously in that case it won’t be close to a flop

They've even got Solo's tragic overseas performance to provide a hint for what is to come. Still, for some reason TROS is being grossly over-predicted, yet again, 1.5-1.6B are thrown around as the norm, and you do see 2B talks here and there as well, citing "historic patterns", I think people are starting to collectively forget TLJ's existence.

Anyway, that'll make this Dec interesting.

Infinty War made 2.8m on this friday, were the conditions different or is EG grossing 25% under IW now.

Looking like 840m

840M may be its optimistic target now, without large scale expansion or re-release. Conditions are not that different, except for less theater count and more competition I guess. Though it already started to veer off-track of IW even before the theater loss, and it's certainly not getting back on track again so can look forward to continuously trailing IW by more in the coming weeks.

yeah, Ma is the only real success story this weekend. Smart budgeting comes a long way.

Aladdin's 2nd weekend drop is also a success story, for a movie that opened in Memorial weekend.

Aladdin dropping 52-54% after an inflated Memorial Day debut is a big win too.

Definitely coming for $ 265-280M finish

A 52% drop isn’t much to write home about. Though it is a very good drop.

Godzilla is currently around 53m in China. Has a shot at 70m+ there for the weekend.

KotM grossed a healthy amount in Japan. Should be roughly around 9m for the weekend there.

If @Menorpulse update holds for today, we’ll be around 38m... with a decent Sunday hold it could still do over 50m... maybe decent WOM coming to save it?

Anyway just wanted to throw out some positives for the film after some heartbreak for the franchise.

A 52% drop from an inflated Memorial weekend is an excellent hold.

Aladdin's Friday increase from Thursday is almost exactly on par with Solo's and pretty much all of the last several Memorial day releases.

Do people still think that Aladdin will make $300 million domestic? I'm thinking $280-$290 million (still a great number all things considered leading up to it).

OS-ch at 17.3m , if you further cut out Japan's 2.2m, it is 15.3m Friday , straight out bad numbers, total rejection!

Roughly 30m through Saturday minus China. Only markets it’s doing good in are China and Japan(great Saturday).

still has a shot at a 200 global debut... 70 China... 9 Japan... 45-50 domestic... would need roughly 65-70 from other markets(has roughly 25-30 in the bag now through Friday).. still two days to track

That initial Rotten Tomatoes audience score now just seem much more like fans of Godzilla running to the theater who were going to love the movie no matter what as long as had alot of action.
