Not sure how an R rated movie is going to get to $170 opening weekend.

*double checks something*

Hmmmmmm.....

It's OW looks to be adjusting to around $148m, more or less.

Still need another 22m, though.

*checks something else*

Anyone care to guess what Deadpool's OW is, adj'ed?  At least according to the adjustment given currently by the-numbers?

Spoiler

$165m, if I did the math right.

Given its initial warning handicap on Youtube, it's impressive that the trailer for this already passed the trailer for Deadpool and Wolverine in views in just 5 days. I don't know about 169m OW, but I do think 150m is achievable on sheer hype alone. What the legs will be - that's another matter completely and I have no idea.

Deadpool and Woverine will have bigger OW, but this one will have better legs, at least that's how I feel at this point, they are gonna be close. So essentially this year is a battle for the biggest R rated movie ever (not adjusting to inflation), it will be interesting.

What? How does a film that opened to $96m in 2019 adjust to near $148m today? That's slightly over 50%! No way. Maybe $120m.

The film It, not Joker. 🙂 The Italicization was a little hard to see, I think.

I think this is going to shock everyone. The sheer goodwill and status of the first film coupled with Lady Gaga is going to make this the biggest film of the year easily.

Yeah this is not opening to 169M+

I wonder if any movie can open that high today with the massive drop we have seen in thater attendence.

There will never be batman in Todd's jokerverse. There might be Bruce Wayne and they could fight in a non-action way (rich vs poor) but batman is a stupid idea in this universe. Even then I doubt Todd would even want to do this, it will be a drama heavy film instead of character study film like Joker is. Joker 2 in some way is still a character study, adding a class fight in it would derail the direction they go for.

Oh, there will be Batman in Todd Jokerverse, but I suspect we will never see him on screen.

We really need this Batman back. The gothic and grimdark era has gone on long enough.

I remember when licking the 1966 Batman would get you pretty much lynched on line.

Fact is, for the first two seasons, the Batman show was prety much drop dead funny, which was hwat i was meant to be.

Third season was pretty bad, after it lost the core writers in the middle of season 2.

FWIW, top adjusted R openings (this is using an est 2024 atp so it differs slightly from the-numbers which is using a (slightly off) 2023 atp):

DP1 170M

Reloaded 169M (easy 200+ if Fri open)

DP2 153M

It 153M

POTC 150M

Hangover 2 120M

Amer Sniper 117.5M

Joker 116.5M

200+ easily possible for R nowadays if excitement is there (as we may see in July)
