How are you getting 11? It's still a decent amount behind GvK's 3pm Pacific number, and while late walkups will be better without the capacity issue, I'm not sure if it has enough juice to get that high. Do you think the MTC 1/2 ratio will be that much better?

I’ll go for 10.5 but there are a lot more MTC3 now than 3 weeks ago, right?

I know some people were taking the GvK result as indicating that it would have been really huge more than market really recovering overall. And I think it would have done pretty well, but what we’re seeing here with like a 20M combined OD from lower profile movies shows that the market is coming along quite nicely imo. And we still have more regals and increased capacity over the next couple weeks -  between this weekend and MDW will be held back more by lack of attractive product than by consumer hesitancy.

Just a head's up, these projections aren't based on cS numbers but Keyser's. Projections were fairly accurate for GvK and most certainly will be for this too, just clarifying that there is more chance of this going a bit off than they used to be.

So...it is not time?

I was expecting Demon Slayer to be higher, the theaters here in the Orlando area gave DS more and better screens than MK.

Disney Springs gave DS the giant theater and one of the 300 seaters plus three more screens, whereas MK got the Dolby, the other 300 and one other screen.

MK even had one less showtime than GvK.

Tbh $18-20m OW is what I predicted 'Mortal Kombat' would do pre-pandemic so...not bad. Glad to see the box office recovering a bit every week. I hope 'Spiral', 'Cruella', and 'A Quiet Place 2' all do amazing in May

Gitesh thinking $25m weekend, an almost 2.8 multiplier for something so fan driven lol.

$9m obviously not as good as 11. Good opening considering R rating & HBOMax/Piracy. Maybe $30m in normal times.

Edit; I didn’t realise industry expectations were $10-12m and $15m max so this is a win.

Great for the Dragon Slayer film, which I had no idea was even out this week.

Both are selling closely at my theater today. MK will probably have a leg up with PLFs, but Demon Slayer's success bodes really well for more anime films in the future. A Jujutsu Kaisen or Attack on Titan finale film would make bonkers money.
