While I wont support chicago's abrasive posts, but we have tools to fight COVID. He meant vaccines.

He still wouldn't be correct though, as the vaccines didn't happen because of capitalism. Developing something in a capitalist society doesn't automatically mean that capitalism caused the development. Correlation doesn't always equal causation. Even more so when there are vaccines out there that weren't developed by private companies or under a capitalist system...

You are right. But there were other things as well. We had other treatment options(monoclonal antibodies or Merck's new drug) and the whole process of how EUA was done was streamlined than the blackbox we saw with vaccines in China or Russia.

Plus as I posted yesterday alternatives are even worse looking at China or Russia. I wont say current system is great but its better to work on the negatives(I like the concept of Conscious Capitalism) rather than go full on socialism.

But I take back my comment on backing his post.

IATSE Strike Plan Details: How the Picket Line Would Work

In an "FAQs" document sent to Local members on Thursday, the union offered guidance around "scabbing," healthcare, unemployment benefits and travel if it calls a mass work stoppage in the next few days.

Sigh. That's what happens when people are obsessed with partisan politics I guess....

I hope both parties are able to resolve this soon. What I really hope is that the studios give these workers what they deserve.

LOL at optimist. There is no way AMPTP will yield that easy. If that were to be true, this strike wont happen. If the strike happens, they are prepared for long break. I hope external pressure ensures a good deal for IATSE.

I second posts requesting donate links for IATSE. #IASolidarity

Also awesome news from UK.

Multiple countries have shown solidarity with IATSE. So studios will have little option moving work to other locations.

Just yesterday, reports were going around about a potential IATSE Union strike to ensure reasonable expenses and breaks for crew members. It was hinted that they were going to go on strike Monday, but a new rumor might point to it taking place as of tomorrow. According to Star Wars Time, it seems that the production of The Mandalorian‘s third season will shut down alongside other Lucasfilm productions. It seems that the plans for the company are to close up shop for around 90 days with 60,000 film and TV workers affected. They do highlight that there is a slim chance they might avoid a potential shutdown, but the chances seem quite slim.

There are also rumblings surrounding Marvel projects eyeing a similar development. So, we can assume the same will happen with other projects like the currently filming The Last Of Us, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, or the recently started Secret Invasion. There’s also the uncertainty of how it may affect post-productions due to VFX departments and editors. The latter may fall into IATSE Local 700 of The Motion Picture Editors Guild. Star Wars Time highlights that their source at the time was unsure. So, the projects like Obi-Wan Kenobi, Andor, Hawkeye, Ms. Marvel, and other productions could also face delays. There’s also the question of projects that require reshoots within that 90-day window.

So 90 day delays are planned. I guess post production delays are more fluid.

there is though, studios cant take another hit if we are pre pandemic levels then i would agree with you but we are not yet, covid protocols and lockdowns  already disrupted the filmings , only now things started to gather somewhat normal pace, even if the strike happens i doubt that it will last long .Also the fact that apparently talks are going probably means that they will reach a deal fairly soon idk how soon but probably we are days away
