Just going to throw this out there, my local area’s Monday is running 70% of Sunday so far. We’ll see how walk-ups do later tonight, but it has a shot at reaching 75%.

If either of those numbers translated nationally, we'd be looking at TFA and $1B DOM.

Ahhh ok. Yea that'll do it. Hopefully the US is still running within 40%.

I am roughly 50% joking.

On a more serious note canada should generally have better weekday holds, not sure of the exact ratio though. Dajk could probably tell us the typical relationship between local mom hold and Dom hold

We couldn't have fudged this $22k to get that sweet $60k theater average?

In any case those are amazing, spectacular, and superior box office numbers. Glad to see it happening. Set targets for Endgame and TFA and take it all home, Spidey.

I'm vacationing with my parents in Florida right now, but even in our relatively mid-size town, my Monday local AMC IMAX screen is filling up, only the first three rows are left tonight.  Tuesday looks similarly packed, or will be soon!  I've already moved my TUES. ticket to WED., which looks a bit quieter...but I see that Thursday and of course Friday and Saturday, Xmas Eve and Day, are already filling up, too!

This thing will generate its own fumes through January.

Was scrolling twitter and saw a tweet reply from ERC saying not putting NWH on streaming was a missed opportunity... what in the lol what a strange account

i said it weeks ago. I think the account has been bought off by Wall Street, who are short on AMC.  The comments from ERC are textbook shill activity.  He might as well be Jim Cramer at this point. It’s laughable.

If Omnicron doesn't shut down theaters by then...but living in Florida I highly doubt anything will make the Desantis lock up.

This was a SONY success story.  The characters that got people in seats were all created by Sony.  It didn’t double FFH because of that cast.  (No slight to Holland and crew, they have done a great job and had two solid movies.)

SONY and Marvel success story!

Can't people let Sony have this? Marvel is a continuous never ending success story, yes it's their movie too, but this didn't blow because Doctor Strange is in it.

Yeah kinda like how FFH wasn't the first billion dollar Spidey movie because Peter's ties to Iron Man and Endgame.

Lol they just had Venom 2 which to be fair was a complete Sony success story (or outside of spandex, Afterlife did alright too.) hell depending on budget and environment, Morbius might be another hit for them next month.

The way people try to spin Sony (you know the PlayStation folks) as like some poor little mom and pop store struggling against Target is just amusingly weird.

Because the movie is blowing up not because of individual characters, but because of everyone together sharing screen time. People wanted to see 3 spideys, including Tom Holland which actually have the first billionaire movie for the character without any Sony classic character, so it's not like he doesn't count the way some people is pretending.

Of course it wouldn't be this big without Sony older characters, but it wouldn't generate the same hype either if it was just Sony without Tom Holland / Doctor Strange / the other MCU characters and concepts.

And then of course we need to remember that the movie is also blowing up because it's great, having 40 characters is enough to generate hype but it's not enough if the movie is bad, and as we all know the creative control is mostly Marvel / Feige, they made the movie with Sony helping and allowing them, not otherwise.

This should be treated the way it really is, a co-production from Sony / Marvel turning into a double victory, even profits and merchandising is being shared this time. Giving all the credits for Sony alone is ridiculous.
