So, since it worked for Creed 3 this weekend wonderfully, another March movie is making the $5 PLF ticket Atom/TMobile deal later this month.

 

Is it Shazam, which needs the help - no.

Is it D&D, which probably also needs the help - no (at least not yet).

 

It's John Wick 4.  Just like Creed 3's OW expectations skyrocketed, even up through the weekend...I'd expect a similar percent bump to the opening weekend for John Wick.  It's the same exact type of movie - a sequel that had a few issues coming from its predecessor, that the studio didn't want to have people falling away from attending, but getting back in, instead.  It's another "best movie" for these deals - one with a lot of GA fence sitters...

Personally I don't know what can change in just a week (roughly). It is just getting lost in the shuffle of Creed III, Scream VI, and John Wick 4. I have seen little to no marketing and no online chatter. I also don't see the film having amazing walk ups to make up for the lackluster presales.

I am not impressed by final week sales for Scream 6 so far. It could miss 40m at this rate. As most expect the next breakout will be John Wick 4.

Even the worst scenario puts it above Scream 5 OW, nothing remotely close to S4.

 

And it could surprise once it opens, maybe the presales was frontloaded because the diehard fans buy them quickly and now it's back to earth, but the more casual audience can still treat it like a normal horror movie and buy tickets very late on even walkup. 

 

Frontloaded presales for previews not necessarily means the OW itself will be super previews-heavy.
