Halloween Ends (No Comps)

Oct 13/14 (T-15 Thurs, T-16 Fri)

SW/Toronto Ontario

  # theatre #show Seats Sold Seats Rem Ttl seat Percent
Thurs 18 66 52 12556 12608 0.004
Fri 8 24 59 16067 16126 0.003

No comps, but a direct eyeball compared to Smile's first day of sales I have, Halloween has almost as much seats sold for Thurs on first day of sales, as smile has at T-2 Thurs this week (52/60). For Friday 59 to Smile's 100.

I am going to speculate that perhaps why SW/Toronto just isn't digging Smile is they were for Halloween tickets. Will do Smile numbers later today now that the Wed seat drop has occurred.

It will be interesting to see if ENDS can match KILLS opening weekend numbers. This one has more PLF's attached, the "finale" factor and less competition. Although, the bad reception from Kills could hurt it.

Bros, counted today at 12pm EST for tomorrow:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 13 (3 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24): 3+ (2 showtimes and both times Sell Outs are reported. But I think it's a mistake which will be gone tomorrow)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18): 3 (3 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): 3 (2 showtimes)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 0 (1 showtime)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16): 81 (4 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal):
97 (7 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 7 theaters: 215+.

Up modest 23.5% since Monday.
I
still don't have at least partly fitting Thursday comps.
TLC had 520 sold tickets also on Wednesday for Thursday.

Bros, counted today at 12pm EST for Friday, September 30:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 23 (5 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24): 2 (4 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18): 2 (5 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): 2 (6 showtimes)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 13 (3 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16): 112 (4 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal):
113 (10 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 7 theaters: 267.

Up good 61% since Monday.

Comps (all counted on Wednesday for Friday): Massive Talent had 335 sold tickets,

The Green Knight had 344 sold tickets,

WSS had 511 sold tickets,

TLC had 519 sold tickets

and Easter Sunday had 243 sold tickets.

The Friday presales are not
that bad for a Wednesday but Idk if the decent sales in California (and partly at the East Coast) will be enough to save it.

Smile, counted today at 12pm EST for tomorrow:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 69 (4 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24): 27+ (2 showtimes and, as above, two false Sell Out reports, therefore I take the Monday presales number)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18): 6 (1 showtime)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): 0 (1 showtime)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 17 (2 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16): 49 (2 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal):
63 (2 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 7 theaters: 306+.

Up ok 44% since Monday.
Comps (all counted on Wednesday for Thursday): The Forever Purge had 168 sold tickets,

Beast 218,

The Invitation 176,
The Invisible Man had 628

and Halloween Kills had 1.006.

Smile, counted today at 12pm EST for tomorrow:

NY (AMC Fresh Meadows 7): 120 (10 showtimes)
Miami (AMC Sunset Place 24): 77 (7 showtimes)
Grand Rapids (AMC Grand Rapids 18): 14 (5 showtimes)
Austin (AMC Lakeline 9): 4 (6 showtimes)
Tempe/Phoenix (AMC Centerpoint 11): 21 (5 showtimes)
San Francisco (AMC Metreon 16): 71 (8 showtimes)
LA (AMC Universal):
92 (7 showtimes)

Total tickets sold in 7 theaters: 399.

Up very decent 74% since Monday.

Comps (all counted on Monday for Friday): Old had 262 sold tickets,

The Invitation 167,

Beast 202,

Malignant 167,

The Invisible Man had again 628 sold tickets

and HK had 1.254.

With that nice Friday jump I think 20M+ are still possible (judging from my theaters).

It was!

If BOT are going with $19m, maybe it has an outside chance at $20m.

Although it would be funny to have 3 x $19m openers in a row.

Man, these Bros numbers are depressing.

Unless there is considerable late pre-sales or walk-up business, it may not hit $10M for the weekend.

One thing I noticed in my city which I somewhat confirmed by checking a couple of other cities I have lived in or visited, is that the more upscale the neighborhood, the better the pre-sales are for the film. It’s like an arthouse film of yore that’s now playing at every suburban cineplex.

Alright, so the Fandango app isn't reliable anymore.  I ended up doing today's run twice because I couldn't believe there were so few new sales.  Looks like I'll have to go back to using the site.  It added about an hour to the process though, so I don't know if I'll have time to track as many movies.  Not all doom and gloom for this weekend though on a positive note.

 - Dear Evan Hansen - .6x (360k)

 - Father Stu - .635x (350k)

 - Nope - .127x (815k)

 - Night House - 6.214x (1.62m)

 - Crawdads - .246x (492k)

 - Resident Evil - .946x (884k)

 - Bullet Train + EA - .396x (1.82m)

Lyle Lyle T-8 comps

 - Bad Guys - .309x (355k)

Amsterdam T-8 comps

 - Bullet Train - .218x (731k)

 - Nope - .548x (3.51m)

 - Suicide Squad - .7x (2.87m)

 - Black Phone + EA - 1.566x (4.7m)

Going to make a note before finishing today's run that all of Jacksonville's theaters are now closed for today.  I'm pretty sure that was contributing to the low numbers.  I'll try to do comps for Raleigh/Phoenix for today's releases
