I saw someone pointing out how Universal doesn't own the rights to dinosaurs in film, and yet here we are where the only dinosaur movies we are getting are set within this specific universe.

I know that competing with the big daddy dino series sounds like a fools errand, but come on, more dinosaurs!

I feel the same way about Pirates of the Caribbean and pirates. More pirates.

I think that's just an assumption, because nobody is selling LY tickets past like 3PM on FSS, and if it was an assured takeover, they would be on sale already.  JWD will likely keep at least 1 if not 2 PLF shows per screen next weekend

Thanks for clarification! I was actually under the impression that Lightyear would get all the PLFs also on evening shows but it makes a lot of sense to give atleast a few of them to Dominion next weekend.

I just got back.

Dominion is to the original Jurassic Park what Hot Shots is to Top Gun.

Me as the end credits rolled…

That said, the movie is fascinating. I can’t even say I didn’t enjoy it, even though it’s not a good movie imo.  My gut reaction is that average joes will shrug their shoulders and be like “it’s ok”. No more, no less.

I’m currently sat at home like….

We totally need a Jurassic Park/Pirates of the Caribbean crossover. I need to see Jack Sparrow running from a t-rex.

I can totally understand why even JP/JW fans woudnt like it or be generally mixed about it. There are so many elements of it that either work for you or they simply dont.

I hope it could be another JP3 situation for you, where you maybe didnt like it at first watch but got warmer towards it in the years after.

I do think Universal should rest the Jurassic films for 5-10 years after this.

Marvel, DC fans get multiple content every year, Marvel has now even started tv series for Random characters that comes to their mind.

Star Wars folks are getting series, Monsterverse is getting another movie and 2 series.

But us JP fans shouldn't get anything for next few years. Nice.

Infact i say, they should continue now, don't let a roadblock stop you from your journey.

I wouldn’t worry, regardless of the reviews this is still going to make bank, and you can bet that Universal are already at work planning Cretaceous Park or whatever for 2025. Hopefully with a new creative team.

ADJUSTMENT NOTE:  JWD (adj) is the seats sold that does not include theaters that had unreliable data in their seat maps that that point in F9's track.

COMP NOTE: Both the F9 and the BW comp have been adjusted to reflect the absence of Ontario theaters in the DOM market during pre-sale runs of those films (what would normally be the comp/0.955).

***EXTREMELY UNOFFICIAL COMPS***

JW3 = 1.3913x JW2 at the same sources of tracking at T-0 [19.16m adj]
JW3 = 3.06671x KotM at the same sources of tracking at T-0 [17.39m adj]
JW3 = 0.89542x TLK at the same sources of tracking at T-0 [18.54m adj]

NOTE: Comp has been adjusted downward by 10% to account for differences in comping in Sacto from 2018/19 to 2022.

I think the tie-breaker will be Top Gun: Maverick which is my most recent comp and should be in the right ballpark (less PLF and adult tickets sold but more 3D). Does seem to be a lot of foot traffic today, and all of the 16.5+m comps are from last year so let's go with 18m +/- .75m.
