It's exactly what happened to Shazam 2...it's amazing to see this happen twice in the same year.  You'd think companies would have seen that happen, and tried to figure out to never have their movie fall in that trap...

 

B/c now it is WOM-negative that is just rolling downhill and spinning out of control.

 

PS - Just saw 15 second The Marvels teaser on the Eagles game - it's now "this sets up more", not "this movie is good" - probably not gonna stop the roll...

What is going on!! I think people going for THG: BoS&S instead.

I think people going for THG:BOSS instead is exactly what is happening.

 

One has the cast marketing it, good social media reactions coming out, even some nostalgia attached to it, and we know that works.

The other has nothing of the sort, all it does have is being attached to a franchise without a good momentum right now, negative news articles coming out almost daily about it and online chatter already calling it a flop before it even came out.

 

Disney chose very poorly its marketing strategy. Then again I sorta think Disney bet on having its cast promoting it for its final stretch but the strike went on for longer than expected, so they got royally screwed there (their own fault regarding the strike though).

 

 

I really wish there was a way to quantify how much having the cast promoting HG is helping it against The Marvels.

I don’t think there’s any small chance of a 100m WW opening unless reviews totally shock and are excellent.

Hunger Games: The BOSS MTC1 Previews - 22658/344351 439555.10 1826 shows

 

Its steady pace is really good. This is as of 11AM this morning. I will see if there is any bump tomorrow due to positive Social Media reactions. But they are doing the right thing with this movie. if I have to guess its making 6m+ previews. I think at this point 45m+ OW. But it can go higher if they can build on the buzz.
