Coco | Pixar / Lee Unkrich | Now playing | #1 all-time in Mexico

So, I'm not sure where to start looking on the weekend thread, but what do we think of Coco's numbers?

The overall drop was better than Tangled per Mojo, but its Friday and Saturday increases paled against Tangled. Any reason for that?

Better weekdays muted the increases.

It’s always been stated that it’s a limited release short. If anyone watches Disney Channel, the short was advertised on there even more than Coco and it always mentioned that it was for a limited time. Perhaps, it was supposed to be for longer, but I doubt that. If Disney was really responding to the backlash and thought it was damaging Coco’s BO, they’d have pulled it last Friday instead of waiting several more days.

And you don't think they would have kept it on if people were loving it? (Or at least not hating it?) They were hedging their bets. Pulling it immediately would've been too obvious and probably impractical.

Limited Release was also Disney's way of going "See it before it's gone". Which is of course, their shtick. Probably hoping to keep it in theaters till Christmas, and then retire it.

It's Friday & Saturday decreases were lower because it's playing better on the weekdays.  I assume because it's Pixar and a bit more adult skewing.  I think the Sunday drop will bet better than projected though - just like last week.

But if it keeps on having weak Staurday increases, I don't see how Coco can beat Moana dom, as lots of people expect.

IT WAS.. 21% SUNDAY DROP.... instead of the 33% drop that was projected.

And I thought Moana had good Sunday holds...

Posted on numbers thread, but reproducing it here:

Great for Coco!

It must be a cultural thing for Hispanic movies to have better holds on Sundays.

Perhaps, there are many working on Saturdays or perhaps they go after church. I think they are probably the most religious group of Americans?

Plus Coco is not just for children, it's a celebration of a part of their culture.

Anyway, glad it's also translating well in China/Asia, could be because of the strong family theme.

In Europe, maybe it's not because Europeans love their independence from family. Just throwing some theories out there.

Latin audiences increase on day-to-day for weekends. Fri can be half as big as Sun, except when comes to front-loaded franchises, with those ones, the numbers usually stays flat.

It's really not much about church, just Sunday is the better day to go out because it's mostly a 'family thing', so everyone is free and is a good way to start the week.

I’m fairly sure it’s scheduled to be on TV soon, so, anything is possible but this was the plan.  I think I’m remembering that right.

Saw Coco and LOVED both it and the Frozen featurette! Hector was easily my favorite character in the movie. And I did tear up a bit.

(Also I have a crush on Hector. ^^)

My sister and I saw the movie in IMAX, and we were the only ones in the theater. Gonna see it again in a few hours with our friend who hasn't seen it yet.

Also, does anyone know the music that plays at the end of the final trailer? Like around 1:17 onward? I absolutely ADORE the music in the trailer but since that last one's an instrumental I don't know the name.
