SPECTRE | 11/6/15 | Final Trailer on Page 126! | Twitter reactions coming in, STID 2.0?

Rewatch thoughts - better this time round. More rewatchable than SF in any case I feel. Madeleine/Bond relationship still a problem for me.....

totally fine with the Blofeld reveal now.

And really like third act, train scene on. This is where the film IMO really hits its stride tone and pace wise. Wish the first half was not so sterile but this will do for sure.

PS. Newman leading his score into WOTW is a brilliant touch.

Spectre” has hauled a record-breaking $9.2 million on its first full day, giving the 24th Bond pic the biggest Tuesday gross of all time in the U.K. and topping “Skyfall’s” first day earnings.

“Spectre” also made $6.4 million on its opening night in the U.K. on Monday, bringing its two-day total to $15.6 million.

Nothing wrong with that, except for the one movie where he was riding a surfboard with the God awful CGI waves in the background.. Which movie was that???

Die Another Day, which I actually like except for Haley Barry who sucked and that dull generic ending on the plane.

I'm thinking 80m OW/230 DOM. Buzz just isn't as huge as it was for Skyfall, but this wouldn't be a bad performance all things considered.

I have to respectfully disagree, UK was bigger in Spectre than Skyfall.

How does it decrease $74m from Skyfall?

Well, critics-wise...it won't really matter that much regardless of ratings...it's the audience-reception that matters more.

While it may not be as great as Skyfall or Casino Royale....people might like this way better than Quantum of Solace. And if it has good WOM, (better than QoS)....legs could deliver better.

Skyfall had at 3.45 multiplier.  QOS was 2.5.  If this lands in the middle with it's current tracking of $75-80m and does a 3 multiplier that's $225-240m

Early online audience reception so far seems to be OK but not great.  IMDB went down from 8.9 to 7.8 in a couple of days with less than 8,000 votes while. RT audience rating is at 78% for the UK

Early December will be this movies biggest advantage providing WOM is at least good. I'm seeing something like this:

80 (20 from first week. 100 total)

40 (13 from second week. 153 total)

23 (12 from third week, 188 total)

20 (7 from fourth week, 215 total)

14 (4 from fifth week, 233 total)

9 (2.5 from sixth week, 244.5 total)

5 (1.5 from seventh week, 250 total)

3 (2 from eighth week. 255 total)

At that point it legs to 260.

According to Deadline, EON is already preparing to shop the distribution rights for the next Bond films, WB seems to be the favourite but I can see Sony putting up a fight to retain it

One of the main factors EON/MGM will look for is the potential to co-finance future tentpoles. Sony don't have many of them, and Rothman is known to be a penny pincher, WB or Universal would probably be the best guess for this (but Universal don't want to co-finance their tentpoles anymore and are basically now waiting out the Legendary deal already). Partnering with WB on The Hobbit would probably lean things in their direction as well.

The thing is that the deal not surprisingly favours MGM and EON rather than the studio who funds and distributes. Universal I think will stick with the franchises that they own outright, WB I think with only Fantastic Beasts and DC would be willing to let MGM funds smaller tentpoles like a San Andreas or a Christopher Nolan film so they could get their hands on Bond. The only thing that might be an issue is that Warner Bros has Fantastic Beasts and Justice League slotted for the next few Novembers and I doubt Bond will become a summer franchise but then again studios can have big films co-exist
