So "Cant Stop the Feeling", Justin Timberlake's new song for the movie, is now #1 in America out of nowhere. It was released just a couple weeks ago. Could be this year's "Happy."

I still wonder what made them decide to release a song in May for a November movie. Looks like it could pay off though.

Looking at the release schedule, this will be the first animated movie post Storks, which releases 6 weeks before this and there are no family movies releasing in that time either. October is basically "Prestige Adult Drama" and "Cheaply made horror" month. The release date is pretty much perfect to serve a demographic which will be very underserved by that time, Doctor Strange also looks like it is targeting a much older audience compared to other Marvel movies.

First Friday of November is a typical release date for an animated feature like this. The main thing it needs to worry about is Moana.

Will definitely be interesting to see how Moana does, in the last 5 years where there has been an animated movie on both the first weekend of November and the Thanksgiving weekend, the movie on Thanksgiving has grossed less than the one on the first weekend.

- Peanuts vs Good Dinosaur

- Big Hero 6 vs Penguins

- No release on first weekend, Frozen released over Thanksgiving

- Wreck-it-ralph vs Rise of Guardians

- Puss in Boots vs Muppets and Arthur Christmas

That is a pretty interesting track record tbh.
