The Warner Bros. Thread | Will NOT merge with Paramount...capitalism is still terrible

The fact Andy Serkis is playing such a major creative part of this indicates it's probably just as much his idea as it is the studio's. Definitely a bit of a gamble considering the prequel nature probably means none of the original actors will be involved (Wood, in his early 20s when the OG trilogy was released, is now well into his 40s so wouldn't bet on Frodo's return).

Digital de-aging, baby...  but it only works if they get *everyone* (they want in the cast) back on board... and they may not.  (and of course Christopher Lee, Bernard Hill have passed...and Viggo may want nothing to do with it...)  Could definitely see Elijah, Orlando, Sean A, Sean B, etc. doing the movie.

-$380M from the DC movies in 2023, according to this Reddit breakdown. Enough to delete almost one full Barbie worth in profit ($421M). The MCU movies in 2023 were around -$200M (pretty terrible, even their success was only a modest one) meaning live action comic book movies lost -$580M last year, enough to delete one full Mario worth of profit ($559M).

This is going to be a very interesting year for WB in terms of Oscars. Three different IP-based sequels/prequels (Dune 2, Furiosa, Joker 2) are probably their biggest contenders of the year. I wonder if at least two can make it in (my bets are currently Dune 2 and Joker 2 being the most likely).

$175M marketing budget for Barbie is insane. That's the movie they actually went hardcore on with all of the advertisements and put all their eggs in the basket for. . and fuck did it pay off.

They also  had a lot of product "Tie In" ads, for "Barbie" which meant that other people were pyaing to plug the m ovie. No wonder studios love product ties in. You get other companies to adverstise your movie without it cositng you a dime. What's not to like?

Deals are still being negotiated, but Zack Snyder, who directed and co-wrote “300,” is in talks to direct and executive produce the series. Deborah Snyder, who executive produced “300,” would also return as an executive producer under her and Zack’s Stone Quarry production banner, with Stone Quarry’s Wesley Coller also on board.

Snyder working with WB again is major news
