If true, I think fans too often do not realise them doing damage to their franchise

And the cinemas

Indeed. Screencount has plummeted from 3802 to 2374 a 37% drop yet on Monday Alita did $140 per screen in the US. Massive jump to $229 per screen on Tuesday however it did that last week and plummeted the next day.

In the US cheap Tuesday gets bigger and bigger. Monday/~Wednesday down bcs of that, ppl who decide during e.g. Sunday to watch a movie in a cinema pick if possible more and more Tuesday for the cheaper price. Hence one of many reasons why direct comparisons for movies 2 years and more in between their releases are not always 100% good for weekdays, but usually still good to a degree for weeklies. Tendency down here too, for the big, or long waited blockbusters, fan-driven ones at least

Discount Tuesdays were big even when I left in 2016 but I can imagine why with how expensive movie tickets are. I had movie pass when it first came and paid $360 for the year. I saw at least 75 movies that year so it wasn't hard to break even.

I worked at 6am back then and often finished by 130pm (no lunch just grind and finish) and I often would go see a movie and then pick up my kid after.

Definitely getting Alist when I move to Washington in May. They have a classic and upgraded theater both within about 20 minutes of where I'm going to live. In England for single tickets, cheapest day is Monday. I saw Captain Marvel for 5 pounds, normally the price was 13.49.

This is China, not in the U.S.

The same thing couldn't be accomplished in the U.S. since studios contract exclusive time frames to have IMAX screens.

Damage? How so?

if the numbers

they bring in are deeper than what whatever movie might have brought in. Its  generally meant for cinemas, I know about fan-events ppl convinced cinemas to do, then not a lot went there. They added later minimum conditions on further events. = not always bad, it was only about fans not always think things through from all POV.

And to GA its reputation gets down to a degree, average people stay away from what they see as atypical for ... in this case cinema. Can be sports team related too. If it seems to be too over the top, unfair, or obtrusive in method.

In this movie's case I've read repeatedly here at BOT and .... about fans feeling soured in their enjoyment of the movie based on the behaviour of some fans (or fanatics), some tweeted ~ I planed to watch it again (up to the next 2 weeks, partly with nephews/nieces/family), now I'll watch.... instead (not all alternatives were CM).

It looks to me the ones that campaigned for it using anti-methods damaged some simple campaigns for it to a degree, out of being annoyed and than not looking closer to realise the difference.

Forgot: It can by also the way to present: convinced them... or forced them? Really? Forcing someone who depends on livelihood, unfair praxis, convinced them, no bad taste remaining in my POV

Its general, spoiler tags

Yes I'm aware, it makes drastically lower per screen in China. The numbers are abysmal at this point there as well. With way more showings it made what 550k yesterday. The screen showings are down 77% and the per screen figures are down 83.6%.

It's going to do $135M in China...that's not abysmal by any means.

Come on now, if that was abysmal I would say the same as Captain Marvel. Surely you recognize the fact that I mean $37 per screen is abysmal not $135 million in China which is good for any movie.

I get that, but the movie is at near the end of its box-office lifecycle, can't really expect packed theaters. Trust me, if I'm in charge of IMAX screens and Alita fans pester me to take CM out of IMAX in favor of Alita I'd tell them to go pound salt. At this point doing so is economic suicide.

Hi folks,

Can Dragon 3 beat Dragon 2's $60M+ gross?

No. According Maoyan, it is heading to 374m Yuan, what means about $56m. It is dropping about a 75% relative last week, so it could even not reach that amount.

Edit: Maoyan forecasts now 355m Yuan ($52.7m)

Very rare for a sequel with good WOM to drop from its predecessor in China.

Hmm, when you consider IWD the % of CW doesn’t look so awful. A $153m finish would be legs in the low x1.7 range, also not as bad as it looked like it might go on Tues. That would help a lot in perhaps approaching IM3/AQM on solo OS chart.
