this  markets are always frontloaded in case of south corea it was expected bc of the big weekend but in this case unlike china the movie will recover this weekend

Of course, it’s not disaster mode or anything yet. It’s still unusually large drops, but there’s plenty of potential to possibly recover come the weekend.

Same Maoyan as AM&TW. Makes AM&TW’s OW in first 2 days. Finishing <10% above. At least this will all be washed away in like 6 weeks when Endgame PS begin :)

I suddenly remembered the pre-sales and OW tracking for IW. Many here (including me) are on the edge of their seats if IW will cross $200M OW. Lol. That one also seems to be pre-sales heavy. What's with MCU movies and their pre-sales heavy nature these days?

Spoiler, can't wait... might get worse with Endgame. Endgame's story reveal could be The Movie predestined for those two points being a huge reason

IW was presale heavy but didnt have those super massive drops on monday tuesday en wednesday. This does suck, I would have been happy with just 1.7 multi. But in Europe it does seem to hold better.

It does seem to hold better everywhere except China, SK, and Italy. China is gone but weekends may save CM in SK again. I don't know if Italy is redeemable.

In India it will do 2X multi. But that is usually good for that market.

Seems like everyday the expectations for what Captain Marvel can do just keeps dropping. Before we know it, Chinese theaters are just gonna drop it in favor of Green Book.

Well it is already happening. :Venom: Every day CM is losing screens while Green Book gains some of them back. I wonder if GB will ever catch up (in dailies, not total).

That 9.6 effect. :bourne:

It is really ironic that an Oscars Best Picture winner is being loved more internationally than in the US where it is controversial among many in Hollywood.

And its success overseas should encourage filmmakers.

The funny thing is that fans of particular big brands get upset when their beloved films have ugly drops and claim that Chinese audiences have no/bad taste, but time and time again we see great films like Green Book, Coco and Interstellar thriving in a so-called "tasteless" market.

Why would you think so ?

I am very curious about this movie's run in China.I don't think that this movie is their cup of team but it's still something fresh on a genre that China loves.

I'm not going to argue this must be a huge success, but early reactions look really positive. I said the family elements, which can always help Chinese audience to get emotional(Furious, Coco, Ant-Man movies), make me feel optimistic.
