I think it made 100M domestically in 2012? I still don't see a huge increase in that...130-140...but overseas has grown exponentially since 2012 .  

 

Boyega, could help. Didn't help much in the low budget films he's been in since TFA :)...but he's in a sci-fi setting here.

 

411 WW for the original? I could see 500-550 WW. It won't set the WW box office on fire, but it will make a decent profit in theaters, before heading to the home market.

I like your optimism, but the domestic take will most likely be dramatically lower than PR1. I can see a increase internationally though.

Yeah, I don't see it increasing domestically either.

 

Plus from what I've seen so far it doesn't look like a better movie than the first; it just looks a bit too different.

For a movie I was dying to see a couple of years ago, I couldn't be less excited about this  Maybe if another trailer comes out soon that blows me away I can get on the hype train, but unfurtunahrely as of now I'm on the "bombs away" side of things.

This film has disaster written all over it. A sequel never should've been made. The first was lucky to break even. The producers should've left it at that.

They'll need a huge increase in the international market to offset the US dom drop that'll be as sizable as a kaiju.

I’m not sure if THR said Pacific Rim 2 was a problem movie. They did say Warcraft & Great Wall were problem movies, and both of them make huge in China.

It's with movies like this that I'm glad I have MoviePass. Not willing to pay $15 for Pacific Rim 2. I think this will do crazy Ice Age international numbers.

That total film cover is pretty cool. I actually like some of the images from Uprising. Doubt I'll like it as much as the first, but I hope it's enjoyable.

I believe OS will save this movie and may secure a 3rd entry. 

 

I see it dropping to around 70M$ DOM and increasing to 350M$ OS. 

 

The 3rd entry will not be released in the US.

Except t should drop everywhere except China so overseas gross will likely stay flat If China grows or decrease

They sure as hell need to do something soon if they care about DOM at all. That first trailer is about good for a 15m OW.

Considering that we only got this sequel thanks to China's numbers for the first movie, this one has to perform really well in order to justify another sequel.
