Forget being too old, Elba's too famous for Bond at this point. The actors should be up and comers before taking the part, not already huge A-listers. I do think that PR pretty much dictates they have to get a non-white actor to play it next time, though.

I don't think they HAVE to. I mean, why not just have a black guy play a different spy but have it in the same universe?

Elba's just having fun and playing along.  Plus he'd be near-50 by the time a movie would even go ahead.  (Yeah, he's great, but...)  This whole thing has been blown out of proportion once again and people are getting way ahead of themselves, as usual.  There won't be any movement on another Bond until they take care of this film.  But it is interesting how people seem anxious to move on and not interested in what Boyle/Craig are cooking up.

The usual truth about Bond casting is that anyone who's strongly rumored or who talks about it at all publicly...is not anywhere close to it.  (Although The Daily Mail are the ones who broke the Daniel Craig casting.)

If they wanted Elba for Bond they'd have parted ways with Craig before this movie, not after.   Not only is he too old now to start this series, they wouldn't be undercutting their current actor this way before Craig even started filming.  They usually like to wait until after a film release before doing that.

honestly not surprised been kinda feeling this vibe especially with how little progress we've heard on it. feels like we're hearing more about Bond 26 than Bond 25. everyone's ready to move on from craig and this is the contractually obligated final one we all have to get thru.

Nolan!

Nolan would be even more insistent on his own "vision" for Bond then Boyle.

In the end, Wilson and Brocolli are going to call the shots for a Bond Movie, and the director has to understand that.

Don't watch A View To a Kill then.

In fact, don't watch A View To a Kill under any circumstances.

Easily the worst of the Bond films.

And that Moore was too old for the role was only one of the problems.

Moore said he knew he had gone one more film then he should have when he met his female's lead mother when she visisted the set, and found out they were the same age....
