Boyle had an idea for a very specific 007 movie, and he and his Trainspotting partner John Hodge have teamed up to work out the beats. Hodge is writing that version and if it all works out, that would be the 007 film that Boyle would helm.

Hodge won’t be done for a couple of months, but when he turns in the script, one of two things will happen. MGM and the producers will like it enough to shelve the movie they were contemplating — the listed writers are Neal Purvis & Robert Wade, whose 007 credits include Skyfall, Spectreand Casino Royale — and they will instead make the version that was cooked up by the Trainspotting team.

Otherwise, Boyle won’t direct the film and it will be back to the other script

There's an action scene in Trainspotting 2 which kinda rules and made me think of him doing a Bond movie at the time, but I looked it up and he said that the Olympic Bond thing for the opening ceremony was his Bond movie, so I thought that he'd never do one of these. Personally a big fan of the Boyle so I'm very much on board of him getting the gig.

Basically, Boyle had an original idea that EON are having John Hodge write. Basically, in a couple months time once the first draft is in, if they like it, Boyle is in. If not, they go back to the previous Purvis/Wade idea that got Craig signed on for this and the original Villeneuve/Demange/Mackenzie shortlist.

A *very* similar rumour popped out about Nolan on Reddit last year.

Definitely no love for the third act's turn into a slasher movie, but the first hour I did like. And the score, of course. Needs a revisit, I only saw it once when it came out.

Same here. First two acts of "Sunshine" really good, but third act just sucked;became a second rate "Alien",did not fit in it all with the first two acts.

I can't help but think it was a attempt to make "Sunshine" more commericial.

Boyle would be interesting, but he and EON would have to be on the same page.

If you agree to do a Bond Film, you have to accept there are limits to what you can do with the character. Question is will Boyle be willing to work within those limitations. EON is not going to risk their franchise by hiring a edgy.divisive director and let him go wild. They saw what happened to the DCU with Snyder calling the shots.

I know Daniel Craig is said to be returning, but as soon as I saw this article, I knew I had to post it here.

The article basically suggests that Daniel Kaluuya is a new favorite to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond at least sometime in the future. Personally, I'd love to see it happen.

Good money to be made (because he is not the favorite at all among odds maker/people placing bet at the moment)

i think it's because the British tabloids, some of the universally recognised absolute worst papers in the world, are so invested in Bond that so many more obvious bullshit rumours get published about it more than any other franchise.

The only black actor who could be a great Bond is Idris Elba.

My mum always gets caught up in that shit. She's absolutely convinced that they're going to make Bond a girl, and everytime one of those articles crop up she has to tell me how terrible of an idea it is.

Really match the role, but he would be 50+ on is first Bond movie if they want the possibility of a 12/13 year's run like Craig had he could be bit old , that said using my previous mention of the 65 year's old Liam Neeson reference to older action star, some people can sell action quite late in their career.

Boyle's musical project seems to be going full steam ahead this spring/summer, so he may be tied up with that. On the other hand, he works pretty quickly, so I suppose he could have it done by the end of the year and start filming Bond in January. But I'd say it's unlikely.

Then again, things change every day in Hollywood/filmmaking...

The larger problem is EON's inability to settle on a story and nail a director down sufficiently ahead of time...before announcing a release date.
