I feel it's Shame, Hunger and then Slave.  All are good and stuff.

12 Years is a great film and would be a deserving Best Picture winner, but yeah, Hunger and Shame are just a smidgen less traditional/more daring and therefore they floored me a little more than 12 Years.

Frozen, (DIS) 2,757 theaters (-222) / $2M Fri. (-27%) / 3-day Cume: $8.9M / Wk 10

If I can add correctly that's only a 25% drop from last weekend.  Tangled dropped 40%

Congrats to Frozen, it just passed FN(339.7M+) for biggest original animation ever in dollars in 1 run.  :bravo:

Yeah. It's going from having legs that are really good for a modern film to having legs that are really good for any film.

There's a chance it could stay in the top 5 again next weekend, too. If it's #4 this weekend, it only needs to stay ahead of one of the new openers to do it. And if it's #5, well, it should have no problem surpassing Yo, Frankenstein next weekend. (I'd say it stands a shot at out-earning The Nut Job, too.)

If that 8.9 estimate holds up Frozen will surpass I, Frankenstein this weekend. With a 3m Friday there is no way I,F will get a 3x internal multiplier. Even 8m isn't guaranteed with the reviews and WOM it's getting.

I was expecting a good Friday jump for Frozen, but didn't think it would more than triple it's Thursday # (654k) Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image
