Not gonna lie, I feel pretty meh about every movie coming out in the next few months. I am talking strictly about box office.

 

I am dying to see BvS, Apocalypse, Independence Day 2 and others.

Maybe Baumer should've worded that to "every movie that isn't a franchise flick that will obviously make a ton of money."

That's almost 9 months after it was originally supposed to open. Definitely not a good sign.

It's one thing to push back a film that's complete fiction, but pushing back a film by almost 1 year when it is a current events movie is idiocy. Unless there are just some big production issues... but I thought the film was finished already.

Unless they think it'll benefit from being closer to the election. Although I'm not sure if it'll make that much of a difference. No one cared when Stone tackled Bush's life right before the end of his second term.

Yeah, I don't see it being influenced by the election. If the film is ready to go then I don't know why think September is the best place for it.

September is a month for WOM adult hits like Contagion, Prisoners, End Of Watch, The Intern, The Perfect Guy, The Equalizer, The Town, and Moneyball. (Among others) But there is A Walk Among The Tombstones, Trouble With The Curve, and Everest.

The May 13 weekend is a curious logjam. 4 wide releases, eek. One of Free State of Jones or Money Monster should move to April 22, there is no reason for The Huntsman to open unopposed.

Snowden is a film that could make profit in the month of September, but Open Road as mentioned in the Triple 9 thread poorly market films just like Relativity. Open Road has had decent profit with films like The Grey, The Nut Job, Nightcrawler, Spotlight, and End Of Watch. But as a studio they really can't make a film look appeal besides just hey there's this celebrity, or they dump a film onto somewhere like the dead fall or dead winter or even the first weekend of December.

They have finally broken through the awards scene with Spotlight (after they almost did with Nightcrawler last year) so maybe they should focus more on specialty stuff.
