Wrong. Factually. As someone who follows the music industry with a magnifying glass, let me help you out here:

Lady Gaga is a mainstream pop star signed to a major label that only had 1 Top 10 single, for 1 week, from year 6 to year 10 of her career, and she needed to combine a Super Bowl Half Time Show performance of the song with yet another week of it being discounted from $1.29 to $.69 on US iTunes to get it anywhere near the Top 10. (It hit #4.) Its only other week near the Top 20 was the following week, at #18. Her follow up single "The Cure", which was debuted live on stage during her Coachella set and was so basic it baited Top 40 radio programmers as much as possible, debuted and peaked at #39 on the Billboard Hot 100, its only week near the Top 40.

Literally over 90% of Gaga's career record sales and chart success comes from the first 4 years of her career, 2008 though 2012. Every single one of her studio albums starting with her second LP, Born This Way in 2011, has plummeted from its predecessor in global sales and singles success. Her decline internationally has been even worse than her US decline. After Born This Way did roughly 4 million overseas ArtPop manged about 1.8 million, and then Joanne pulled down under 900,000. Her drop off in her singles chart success around the globe is just as striking.

A couple more things:

First; Gaga wasn't even the first choice for the 2017 Super Bowl. Although the NFL later tried to save face and deny it, Adele herself said in an interview that she turned them down. There were also rumblings that, among others, they had tried to get Guns N' Roses too. And really, if you're going to use who gets the Half Time Show, and when they get it, as a barometer I'll ask you this; where are the Black Eyed Peas and Katy Perry now? What happened to them almost right after their respective performances?

Second; The Joanne "World" Tour only did well in North America because of scalper sites hilariously misreading demand after the Super Bowl and swooping in and buying the tickets en mass once they were made available, hence the "instant sellouts". Gaga's stans spent days bitching on Twitter about how they didn't even have a chance and ticket prices were now jacked up across the board. The venues were only filled at show time because the scalper sites slaughtered prices as each date approached. My friend John and his bf down in Kentucky only decided to go to the Louisville show because they marked entire blocks of lower bowl seats down to an embarrassingly low $18 a pop the week of the show. The tour was largely a disaster in Europe, where scalpers only filled the shows to capacity (based on ticket sales, not even actual butts in seats at show time) at a couple shows. For one of the Birmingham dates she only sold about 9,200 tickets in a 15,683 capacity arena, and according to the venue seating map the day before she cancelled the remaining Euro dates the second London show was only 60% sold, including scalper purchases.

Quit wasting your time. Nothing I said was factually wrong, but cool novel.

I also follow the music industry very closely and have for over 20 years. I never mentioned her decline. All pop stars slow down commercially eventually. Some see a comeback but it all part of the ebb and flow of the business. Pop and dance music isn’t as popular as it once was and many of the non urban-leaning pop stars are hurting commercially. Fact is Lady Gaga hasn’t missed out on a top 10 single or platinum certification throughout her 10 year career of LP’s. Factually.
