This is exactly how I feel as well.

The Accountant ain't a bad movie at all, but he has no distinct style as a director and I feel like he'll just make a competent film and nothing really special will come out of this.

Same reaction as @cax16, now that I've realized that he isn't Gavin Hood, aka the "director" of X-Men Origins: Wolverine. I was scared shitless for a good 10 seconds.

WB at this point wants 'solid competent films' to build their brand.  'Style' hasn't really worked that well for them in the last few years.

‘Suicide Squad 2’: Gavin O’Connor to Write and Direct Sequel

The movie is a top priority at Warner Bros. and looks to be one of the two DC properties (the other being New Line’s “Shazam!”) to begin production this year. Given the ensemble’s busy schedule, the shoot wasn’t expected to start until fall of 2017. So while there’s still time, the studio is eager to get someone on board to pen a script.

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. I want directors that serve these characters, not directors interested on giving us their own hot takes on them. Confident that they will make it work and Suicide Squad has everything to be a great film if they develop the film properly. Very pleased with these news, never saw any film by him, but heard great things about The Warrior.
