Let's chalk that, and everything else Hopkin's character stated about the TF's involvement in human history, as fits of his psychotic imagination.  :)

I mean this has always needed to rely a lot on WOM given the state of the franchise. Marketing that has been a big step up from the past few can only do so much. WOM will have to be there to convince most to give it a try.

After the previous Transformers movies how much people are realistically expecting this movie to make?

The BO has dropped hard over the last two TF films. Last Knight was a real blow.

The push towards Generation One, aka OG TFs, style looks on the bots/cons is what has many excited.

The "Bayformer" films lacked that....as well as a cohesive narrative over their 5 films.

Hopefully this Bee film, having the look fans prefer means that a strong story also occurs. Now to me it looks like from the trailers they are at the core riffing on TF1s narrative, at the core. It may be too optimistic to hope someone has the main points of a trilogy mapped out. That is, aside from the aesthetics of the TFs, where the main series went wrong. It felt like they were making it up as they went along, not even attempting to have a cohesive story.

That said, if WOM is strong I feel $200m USD could happen, even in the crowded Dec marketplace. Perhaps $500m+ WW

I feel like the marketing campaign for this film just died down, and it's out in like a month

Not to be outdone by Aquaman's Amazon Prime early screenings, they're having special Bumblebee screenings on the 8th, for at least AMC and Cinemark theaters it seems

lol sneak previews are making a unique, unofficial comeback.

Gee, Paramount seems Optimistic Prime about this movie's quality if they're doing these sneak previews.

It can be hard to distinguish between feeling good about the movie qualities or disliking the early tracking number they got and having a nothing to loose mentality that set in for the early review embargo/early screening affairs.

Same goes for little previews and very late embargo lift, sometime it is a studio just really liking the tracking numbers and not needing any help/reason to take any chance, like IT last year.
