 It's hard to compare what CGI can achieve today versus what Spielberg/ILM achieved in the original. The original was a game changer. I remember sitting in that theater seat back when hype was mainly relegated to short TV spots, trailers in cinema, and magazines like Empire, Entertainment Weekly, Fangoria, etc. I wasn't prepared. Too young to be, and not showered with a barrage of information beforehand.

 

Needless to say, it was a rare moment of visual nirvana that would seldom be matched. Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park showcased Hollywood a new and powerful tool. A tool that hasn't truly been able to replicate that first time experience again. So, it's kind of unfair to the artists on this film to compare their work to the original. They lack the precedence, work on a tighter schedule, and a don't have a consistently proven master at the helm.

The VFX are certainly good for the World movies, but I have to admit there's something about those practical dinos in the Park films that are hard to beat.

but you can say that about all sorts of things, I prefer the practical effects of the original STAR WARS but that doesnt mean the new films vfx suck.

JW2 needs 424 to have a better drop from JW1 than JP2 had from JP1.

And needs 432 to have a better drom from JW1 than TLJ had from TFA.

 

Both look suspect if the OW falls below 160-165 using a multiplier close to 2.6x.

If we use a multiplier closer to 2.5x then 400 becomes the target even with 160-165 ow.

This is gonna be like Avengers. Big drop from first to second, then takes it back and gets back to the numbers of first in the third movie.

If JW3 will be as bad or even worse than JW2, it'll decrease for sure, there's no reason why it would increase. Avengers comparison is not correct.

JW2 small scale, JW3 big scale. Same as avengers, car park brawl vs. universal destruction.

 

Also dont think people will think JW2 is bad.

There will be a JW2.5 civil war-spinosaurus vs indominus that people will claim is not a true JW film because it looks so much worse at the box office before JW3: infinity park releases.

Infinity War didn't make 2 bln+ because of bigger scale, it made 2 bln+ because it was huge event 10 years in making, "culmination" of the whole franchise, all heroes in one movie + great quality. JW3 doesn't have this kind of bonuses, but it has a shitty predecessor and will have a terrible script with awful plot too. They need something more than "more dinosaurs" to not decrease again.

Nope. The concept is too limited for this to rise on the third film. If nothing else FK will have a matrix reloaded effect on the Jurassic franchise.

His opinion seems to be the opinion of most people that have watched the film. Even the people who “liked” this film say “this was terrible in everything, story,structure, acting but it had cool Dinos”.

the best thing about Fallen Kingdom is that it is the first film of the 5 to actually have a different concept. with the (non-specific spoiler)

I think people will want to come back a third time unlike with JP3 where it really was dead. If JP2 was a re-run of JP1... well JW2 is NOT a re-run of JW1.
