Wednesday #s: Eight Fresh Releases This Weekend and Fantastic Four Edition

Recommended Posts

Preview showtimes update in OC:

- Fantastic Four ends with 130 showtimes, about 10% more than MI5 but MI5 had IMAX contributing to its previews. Looks like 3.5-4M previews based on showtimes

- The Gift and Ricki and the Flash:

Way too early showtime counts for next weeks previews:

Compton: 33

UNCLE: 45

Both are more than The Gift and Ricki.

I know ImdB is not the most trustworthy site for audience reaction, but its score is already extremely low there.

And the IMDB users are very, very, friendly to Comic Book Hero movies. Bad news for Fox.

Some of those reviews may be legit, but I'm pretty sure a lot of us were expecting a lot of ImdB fanboys were gonna give this a "1" just because.

Aardman makes a good amount of money from commercials and licensing. Their profits fell in 2013, but I haven't heard anything bad about them since.

Laika has a steady revenue stream from commercials, and Travis Knight has that Nike money. So both of them are able to stay afloat even if their movies don't set the world on fire.

And these films' budgets are low enough that they don't take a bath. I can't find Shaun's budget anywhere.

Their next film Early Man isn't out until 2018 and Studiocanal is likely more than happy to work with them.

I'm sure Shaun only got US distribution to ensure award eligiblity,

went to the cinema saw TED2 and FANTASTIC 4

the first was hilarious , i had a good laugh , everyone was laughing in the theatre at same time i was like really tammy lynn a teddy bear  still though ted and whalberg brotp is too cute ! entire show trying to one up each other ! they're like 2 kids

F4 was actually ok , a bit too serious , i guess i like my superheroes with a side dish of humour which original F4 had , everyone in it was like dreary oh so serious and tight , dunno it was still ok except for that doom guy (pff downgrade casting original was so hot ugh dude from nip/tuck and charmed) who came up with the visual concept for him  ?    the others powers came off ok ( not one of them was drool worthy ).

so yeah ok good but extremely forgettable !

F4 seemed to have a lower OD than Ant-Man over here, and AM already kinda not did very well.

In AUS/NZ

F4 #2 (Behind TW) had by far the worst OD of Marvel/DC film in last 5 years by a country mile , going back 10 yrs just slightly above the likes of Ghost Rider, Elektra, I Hulk

Less than 1/2 recent AM (in NZ about 23% of AM and slightly ahead of Mi5 2nd thu), will really need to recover thru weekend to get anything substantial, MI5 might top it for  weekend

You are kidding me. 3RD biggest TC for an August release.

<script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

They should have gone over 4000 theaters just for the lolz to be harder when this bombs.
