Who would've thought that Lord & Miller would have the best reviewed film this Christmas season consider just at the beginning of the year they were booted out of directing a SW movie?

Miller wasn't involved with the film. But either way, Lord also made The Lego Movie which was pretty much the best movie of 2014 so... everyone would have thought what you said.

Can't say I'm any less surprised.

Not to sound dramatic as this is getting good reviews but I do wonder if say this wasn't released during "awards season" if it would even be in consideration for any awards outside of maybe Blunt for acting and a Golden Globe nom for best musical.

The initial reactions for this and the amount of awards buzz it was getting, I legit thought this would be critically acclaimed.....

Technically Spiderman isn't a Lord and Miller movie

Musicals usually do better than they should in awards season. Same reason why Bohemian Rhapsody got nominated for Golden Globes and SAG and why Greatest Showman got awards buzz even though it was utter shit.

Usually a 7.8 warrants a 90%+ RT score. I guess people gave it really high scores and loved it while others gave it average scores but it was rated rotten on RT.

Pretty much. Just about all of the Rotten reviews with a rating has it in the C range or the 2/4 range. Basically, some people don't hate it, but they're not really all that enchanted by it. Which is a good thing for me. Even the  negative reviews are saying that this has all the things I wanted and done competently, so I'm probably gonna love the hell out of it.

Purely anecdotal, but I don’t know a single person who’s interested in seeing this. Ever since the first teaser trailer dropped I’ve questioned who exactly this is aimed at, because it sure as hell isnt catching on with children. Singing nannies might have been all the rage back when the original came out, but I think the only people who will be guaranteed to turn out for this are people over 50 who grew up with the original. Kids will be dragging their parents to see Aquaman, Spider-Man and Bumblebee, and I think the latter two will be the leggier of the 4 films over the festive period despite lower openings.

I don’t think this is going to be as big as many have been predicting.
