Clooney topped the list with 200 million despite not appearing in a single movie in 2017. It was all from his business dealings. I reckon it must be the same for ScarJo and other actors who make a ton of money from ads, endorsements, business and residuals

A Number of studio execs who have made deals with Clooney have said if he had not chosen to be an actor, he could have been an extremely successful businessman.

Bob Hope made his big money not from the money he made as an actor, but from his very smart real estate investments.

Scarlett Johansson, who has appeared in six movies as Black Widow, is finally landing a $15 million payday for an upcoming standalone film centered on the Marvel superheroine, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

That salary equals what Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth earned for playing Captain America and Thor, respectively, in this year’s Avengers: Infinity War. Evans and Hemsworth also nabbed that same $15 million payday for Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok, respectively, as well as the upcoming fourth Avengersfilm.

Marvel typically doesn’t open up its wallet for first outings – Robert Downey Jr. included as he took home $500,000 for the first Iron Man. Johansson pulled down about a low-seven figure salary for the first Avengersmovie in 2012 (compared to Downey’s $50 million) after making her debut in 2010's Iron Man 2. Still, Chadwick Boseman nabbed a seven-figure paycheck to star in Black Panther ($2 million, according to sources, which well tops Downey's first showing). Boseman's salary is expected to go up significantly for a Black Panther sequel. And Brie Larson, whose Oscar win for 2015's Room figures into her deals, will be paid some $5 million for next year’s Captain Marvel movie (Larson landed a generous payday, but in exchange signed a seven-picture deal that locks her into multiple franchises.)

Its for 7 films

That's new news, isn't it?  Most might have expected she signed for 3-4.  But locked into seven, that's interesting.

Still remember when Sam Jackson almost walked away, balking at a nine-pic contract commitment!  Now he's loving it pretty well...easy money! 😁

Locked for seven (I imagine they need to occur quite fast), no 5 million for 7 movies.

Considering ridiculous 50M paychecks collected by RDJ (MCU), Depp (POTC) and Craig (Bond), 15M is perfectly reasonable.

About no one in Hollywood make only $15M, she will have performance bonus also to be possible to reach that type of numbers if the movie do well I would imagine.

7 picture deal isn't true according to Larson

7 Picture deals are quite common for Marvel stars, I wouldn't be surprised if it were. That would be enough for a CM Triligy and two Avengers/spin-off films.

Not sure why Larson would lie ? Hollywood Reporter learned can be full of BS (or half bs). Like you said a CM trilogy and 2 or 3 Avengers/Cameo deal would make sense.

A deal is easy to void after 7 year's (pass the first day of the first movie shoot ? not sure how exactly it start) for an actor

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/De_Havilland_Law

The De Havilland Law is the informal name of California Labor Code Section 2855, a California law which prevents a court from enforcing specific performance of an exclusive personal services contract (i.e. contracts creating a non-delegable duty on the part of an individual to another party, and no other, to render certain services) beyond the term of seven calendar years from the commencement of service.

So depending when she started on Avengers 3/4, that contract could be non-enforceable after early 2024.

Making a 7 movie deal's quite shaky you are better to turn them fast, has for being common for Marvel stars I do not think we ever really knew any deal they ever signed yet, only rumors no ?

zero interest now , was hoping for a recast

mind telling us why, since Scarjo is pretty much perfect for the role.

Well, not quite perfect, since I think she should have had at least a slight Russian accent, but other then that she is Natasha the BLack Widow.

Biggest surprise is that Brie Larson got $5M just for Captain Marvel. Her agent must be very good.

I though she would get more then  Henry Cavill or Gal Gadot got for their first superhero outing, since she was a bigger name then either of them, not to mention an Oscar winner, but not quite that much. And if Captain Marvel is a big hit, the money she gets for the sequels and appreances in other Marvel films will skyrocket. That is the way these contracts are structured to work.

And as for the 7 film story, she might have been optioned for Seven films in the deal, but the FIve Million is only for the first film. ALthuough Larsen is not a A list star (yet) Five million for seven films is just too far below her market price to be accurate.

Her paycheck of the other films will be negotiate later. That is how these deals work.

The Dehavilland law also had a huge impact..though delayed..in the world of Sports. When, in the late 60's Curt Flood sued major league baseball over the reserve clause in baseball contracts (which made it almost impossible for a baseball player to sign with another team when his contract ended) the De Havilland ruling was the main ruling cited by Flood's attorney. Flood won the case, and the age of free agency in sports began.
