So I went to see my ENT specialist this morning, and apparently my ears suck for my age, so I have to wear special earplugs for all loud events now, like Shows...

and Cinema :sadben:

I told her I went to the cinema last week and she said Cinema can cause permanent ear damage to sensitive ears, so no more unprotected cinema :sadben:

10 years of drumming does that to your ears.

BUT the doctor said I could test my new earplugs to see if they are a correct fit, and that I could go at the exact same cinema to test them if I want  Apparently it's safe with them on, as long as I wear them properly.

Oh well, guess who's going to watch Rogue One again since it's the only movie at his local Imax for the next 2 weeks? :redcapes:

Unprotected cinema you say? :jeb!:

I think New York is one of the last holdouts against Discount Tuesdays.  Here in Sacramento, Regal wasn't participating in them until sometime this year, but when when Cinemark followed the suit of Cinema West, they soon had to do so as well.

That's what I meant about 'market forces'.  As soon as one place in an area goes to Discount Tuesdays and the other theaters in the area start to suffer lost business, the rest sooner or later fall in line.

It also helps that it does seem to be profitiable for them.  I can't really say if it's added to box office gross overall or if it has just shuffled the M-Th pattern a bit, but it does appear to be here to stay.

====

One other note, every single theater here in town makes an exception on Discount Tuesdays for films that are opening that day or are having their Preview Night. Gotta pay full price for those.  No fools they. ;)  IIRC, some places tried to exempt a movie in its first week from Discount Tuesdays, but that didn't stick for long.  Can't imagine why. :P

AFAIK, none of the theaters in Seattle do Discount Tuesdays. Or, if they do, it's only in a very limited capacity, like for showtimes before 10am or something. But the matinee pricing is also pretty limited, often only giving significant discounts before noon, and only slightly reduced prior to 4 or 6pm, so you'd still be paying $10 or so a ticket.

I went 2 years back or was it one year?

I see only 2-d sighted (as in always, in daily live too, not meaning watching screens), and am also face-blind,...

but: he says I hear better than an average 20 year old :P (me = grandmothers age). I worked in loud surroundings, that loudness-level was only short timed and I looked out for protecting myself per position and ear protection.

And I see more color nuances than 'normal' people

You Germans and your precision! ;)

Co-Germans call me... a bit too precise (if it is about numbers or quotes, I hate it, if people quote someone who isn't there, and quote either wrong or out of context in the meaning changing way)

- 20 years in special / custom made production, where a very small non-precision sloppiness can mean a complete big event falls through... :P

But I have to say, now working with pupils, I think it is even more important to pay attention to details, one time saying something not explicit - and you need years to get the (sometimes insane, absolute clear that it can not mean THAT) 2nd possibility to understand something out of their brains/minds again.

Btw, I like the date in the title.

Yes, I think it falls fairly steeply on its second weekend, mainly because of Christmas Eve. I think I'm being a bit conservative with the Christmas Sunday jump, so it could go higher than my 60m. But I don't think there's any chance it gets to 70m+ unless it does something unprecedented this week.

But it its third weekend should have only a very small drop, basically countering the large drop from the second.

Are we not factoring in the competition too? Several big films & Christmas Eve. It's Star Wars so it'll be ok but I can see a big drop on that 2nd weekend.

Competition takes care of itself. I don't inherently assume legs will be better or worse based on competition because it seems like such a crapshoot. But yeah, regardless, it will have a big fall on its 2nd weekend.

It's mostly the Friday and Saturday (especially) drops from last week that'll be ugly. The Sunday-to-Sunday drop should be rather slim, though.
