Jonwo
I love Streep but Florence Foster Jenkins which I liked wasn't Oscar worthy and I think Amy Adams should have been nominated over her. Mel Gibson getting nominated for best director wasn't too surprising.

Not a single scene rang true, she was clumsy, amateurish & outré. I like a good joke tho so this nomination is fun.

SAG leans heavily American since that's what most if them are but yeah they're not worthy. Just get out.

narniadis
Sheesh, so much negativity. I think the list this year is quite solid and from what I have been able to see every nominated person has a reason besides the "it's so and so" excuse. Think what you will of Meryl but I would love to see another actress do that role and do it better. At least it's not a nom for another role like Iron Lady. Giesi
I think we can blame the fact that Amy had two eligible roles this year, that's why she wasn't nominated. Something similar happened to Kanye at the 2012 Grammys, when the AOTY undeservingly went to Adele!
Kvikk Lunsj
Hacksaw Ridge 5/5 Arrival 4.5/5 Moonlight 4.5/5 Lion 4/5 Fences 3.5/5 Hell or High Water 3.5/5 Manchester By the Sea 3.5/5 La La Land 3/5 Hidden Figures 3/
DAR
So looking at Fences, Hidden Figures and Moonlight, I haven't seen them yet, but can we say that those films and performances are better than films that featured predominantly black actors and filmmakers that were snubbed last year? Jake Gittes
I'd be surprised if any of them were better than Creed.

That One Girl
So, I guess Hacksaw Ridge, Lion, and Moonlight are at the top of my watchlist now. I've seen all BP noms outside of those 3.
Kraken
4 down, 5 to go. I'd be thrilled with any of those 4's win (Arrival, Hell or High Water, La La Land and Manchester by the Sea)
filmlover
Fun fact: Octavia Spencer is the first African American female Oscar winner to get a nomination after winning. Woah.

Fences was very good and Denzel/Viola brought it big time. Hidden Figures is pretty good. I preferred Janelle Monae slightly over Octavia Spencer for the supporting gig. department store basement
Boo to my profile picture not being nominated but otherwise it is mostly as expected. Suicide Squad joins the ranks of Norbit, The Wolfman, and Bad Grandpa as critically derided films with only a nomination for makeup. EDIT: I was talking about my former profile picture, Jodi Melville. Brad Pitt had no chance of a nomination.
