Well that isn't how it works, Marvel is just the Superhero Toy&Film division of Disney now

And Warners hopes that DC will become the Superhero Toy & FIlm division of Warners.

Not a bad idea honestly

Agreed, though Whedon might be reluctant to walk into the mess that his film has become.

I suspect that we will begin hearing rumors about Whedon doing a X Men movie (after the takeover) because Of Whedon wrote an X Men limited  series comic a few years ago.

Dave is not letting this thing go, which is interesting because if he's so vocal about it, he must have some support from his fellow castmates (which seems like it after that letter). So it's definitely going to be interesting how Disney handles this PR nightmare while also battling against a whole cast.

Keeping in mind that this is not some Ant-Man or Dr. Strange and there are several A-listers in this that will take part of A4 press tour.

They should've gone the Lasseter way but oh well, still think there's a whole bunch of BTS stuff that we'll probably never find out.

Lasseter is gone and he did a hell of a lot more for Disney and Pixar than Gunn did.

Bautista is currently the only one continuing to give interviews about this and there might come a point Disney where might just make his dusting permanent.   If anyone else wants to complain or withdraw they could just do a Rocket and Groot spinoff - they're the two most popular characters.  Or spin them off with Thor, Valkyrie and Korg or even just the later two.

lol.  they got themselves locked into a 250 million part 3.  what are they going to do?  is this where cast and production take over company and corporation?

Considering that the first GOTG was $196m after tax breaks b/c Gunn went about $20m over budget - near $250m with pay hikes all around was probably already in the cards for GOTG3

While a huge franchise their last movie made less than the previous last movies of CA, IM, SM and Black Panther - and about the same as Thor.    They don't have the clout or leverage.  This isn't Cruise with Paramount.

@TalismanRing

Every time Baustisa opens his mouth, I just think: you are making it SO EASY for Hunter and Stephanie when you crawl back to the WWE, because Disney fired you.

Return at the Rumble. Get in a feud with Miz, aka the Real Hollywood A Lister, not You, the failed Rock wannabe. It writes itself. Lol.

Bautista is pretty much the least spineless guy in regards to the whole Gunn ordeal over at Marvel. Gained a lot of respect for him. Also, Bautista in Blade Runner 2 > The Rock in anything

The rock after reading your comment.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if this 3rd movie never happens. This franchise was/is James Gunn's baby, and regardless of the fact that what seems to be plenty of people see the Gunn firing as a mistake - though obviously with the benefit of hindsight - Disney will probably never let up about their decision.

Looks like it’ll be a 5 year gap between Vol. 2 and Vol. 3.

A new listings report coming off from Production Weekly reveals that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3production status is set for February 2021. As expected, the director role remains unfilled but James Gunn’s name is listed under the writer credit. Though delayed the project already has a working title and it is “Hot Christmas”.

wait, they're not even planning on filming it until 2021?

reconstruction of the big story book / MCU bible for reasons?

acterss commitment (e.g. see Avatar)?

too many other new characters need release dates earlier on?

A mix out of those or other reasons?
