The Box Office Buzz and Tracking Thread: Electric Boogaloo

Recommended Posts

Final sales for the 7:00 shows at my theater:

I Feel Pretty: 23/78

Traffik: 11/78

Super Troopers hasn't gained anything since noon (it's been at 20 tickets since then); we'll see how much more it can get in an hour.

I Feel Pretty comps:

70% of Game Night (11.9M)

75% of Acrimony (12.9M)

80% of Blockers (16.5M)

135% of Mountain Between Us (14.3M)

175% of Love, Simon (20.7M)

12-14M is a good range IMO. Blockers had somewhat weak previews at my theater, but something 1-2M higher isn't off the table.

Traffik:

40% of Den of Thieves ($2,500 PTA/2.6M Weekend)

75% of Gringo (2M or $850 PTA/885k Weekend)

140% of Hurricane Heist ($1,760 PTA/1.8M Weekend)

You should be comping Traffik to movies like Kidnapped

Super Troopers: 29/78

Given the nature of the movie, there aren't suitable comps. It's in Game Night/Blockers level tho. Looking ahead at the weekend, it's selling well tomorrow, but Saturday and Sunday are fucking DEAD.

Looking at Friday's showings at the Arclight chain in Los Angeles as well as at Pacific's The Grove also in LA, I Feel Pretty should easily outpace Super Troopers. The weekend battle between the two films will not be close.

Some mild things of note:

-How is Lily James, who has already been in two hit movies, a "rising star?"

-lmao at Show Dogs having more hype than Teen Titans Go!

-Kinda cool that Crazy Rich Asians topped both the comedy and sleeper charts without any marketing. Constance Wu, her POWAH

Super Troopers 2 has ridiculous pre-sales at my theatre for tomorrow, but NOTHING sold for throughout the rest of the week.

My town is already stoner-central, so I guess I should have seen it coming doing well on 4/20

Honestly though, wtf is WB doing with that one? Market the damn thing already! Unless it's so god awful that any marketing will give away how bad it is, there's no reason for them to still be sitting on it.

Looking at that Fandango poll, Ant Man is a major after thought this summer. Zero buzz.

Less than Sicario 2, lol.

Dat Ocean's 8 placement, tho.   Just another sign it could be a breakout in the making.
