Hi everyone.  I'm a long time lurker who decided to jump in for the Endgame fun.

 

Thought I would make my first post a little informative, so here's a breakdown of the MJR Cinema in my area (Brighton, MI) for AEG's Thursday night opening.  They started with 7 showings when I bought my tickets on April 2, and now have 16, including 2 just added to push the percentage down.

Trying out a proof of concept. Looking at Missing Link this weekend, comparing Fandango Sales as of end of Monday before release, with some Fandango Sales for Smallfoot and Incredible 2 (not a good comparison but I haven't had a chance to look for better yet) also by the Monday before release. I'm sure both of these will be underestimating because I don't see Missing Link being a particularly popular pre-sale movie.

One of the theaters I check is completely down on all ticket sellers (Fandango, Atom, corporate).  Gonna give it until midnight/12:30am my time or so to clear out.  If it doesn't, I'll just go ahead and post the nightly report without that theater's updated info.  Maybe I'll check it when I first wake up in the morning/before I go to bed and update my report with any new info I might get.

I don't often post here but I have I have to say, I don't understand why users in this thread (try to ) extrapolate the presales of Endgame based on its movie tickets share. Isn't that terribly inaccurate? Even if we assume that MT is representative of all online sales ( Fandango, Atom, ...) -a big assumption- there's still the fact that it's still just that, online sales. What about the tickets bought in-person? If just half of all tickets are not bought online, then that already means that your numbers are twice as big as they should be. So what am I missing here?

Completely agree. What some users have been extrapolating from MT is absurd. The extrapolations from actual ticket sales is more amenable.

 

Tickets bought in person aren't accounted for (and we know that walkups are definitely a thing in NA, unlike some other countries), MT, as we've seen multiple times before (particularly with foreign movies) is not representative of the whole NA. Also add to that that I'm pretty sure MT splits CA and USA up, whereas the users here are using compiled data.

Even if we assume that MT is representative of all online sales ( Fandango, Atom, ...) -a big assumption- there's still the fact that it's still just that, online sales. What about the tickets bought in-person? If just half of all tickets are not bought online, then that already means that your numbers are twice as big as they should be. So what am I missing here?

Only charlie does that, for fun. Everyone else is using Fandango for comps.
