BATB got to 1.46m after 2 weeks at MTC

So TLK will have done 3-4x the PS that BATB did in its first 2 weeks. Obviously that was almost 30 months ago, so it’s hard to make a great comp but it’s a good sign.

FFH - 8.3m

M - 190k

TLK - 2.6m

For FFH these are the closest comps I could find

GotG2 - 8.1(D-1, one day before release)

Justice League - 5.6 (same as above)

SMH - 4.8 (same as above)

Thor Ragnarok - 4.5 (day of release)

For TLK:-

Captain Marvel - 3.4m (24 days from release, I dont know how long it had been on PS for at this point)

BatB - 3.27 (10 days from release)

CM had a 58 day presale run, so it had been selling for 34 days. However majority of that was done within the first week, it had 1.8m in its first 3 days. Piggybacking some FFH thoughts onto this I do think it's interesting that GOTG2's presales were so much higher than SMH and Ragnarok despite it's OW being proportionally not nearly that much higher. This is what I'm thinking will happen with CM vs FFH comps (and the difference between those is definitely exacerbated by a lack of previews), especially given how strongly the movie opened in China and Japan (yes I know those aren't perfect indicators).

For Midsommar the only comparable horror comp I have is Jigsaw which was at 212k a day before previews began.

I guess that's pretty good then? It was selling pretty consistently with Annabelle Comes Home before Pulse went down.

So with Movie Tickets and Pulse gone, do we just have our own theaters for tracking information? That sucks, though at least we’ll be a bit more surprised, I guess.

Yeah ... now we need to track Theater-wise ...

Yeah its good that it is ahead of Jigsaw (which being a sequel in a long franchise should have had some rush for presales). That opened to 16.6m over 3 days. Deadline is saying 8-10m over 5 days for Midsommar. But with this PS, that 8-10m number seems low.

Avengers: Endgame - 3623 tickets sold by 5:30pm on previews night gt

Avengers: Infinity War - 2449 tickets sold by 8:30pm on Wednesday before previews night

Captain Marvel - 1140 tickets sold by 5:30pm on Wednesday before previews night

Note

I'm not quite sure what happened, but the IMAX screenings disappeared and the typical IMAX theater (151 reclining seats) is now showing up only as digital.

Final Prediction

Looking at all of the data and going with my general knowledge of the market, I'm predicting a $42-$44m OD.

Because you'll easy comp, easy adjust

Some awesome jumps. Wish I had started doing this a long time ago so I could have some comps. But I’ll just stick my prediction of 47M on here. Also the seat count only jumped by 30 because a showing got removed that showed as sold out, but I guess it was a glitch or something.

I changed my reaction to this so you’d have at least one of every reaction. I wonder if that’s the first post to accomplish that?

Congrats!!

It's rare, but it happens. Would be my first one, IIRC.

Thanks for the finishing touch. ;)

EDIT:::

If you meant to put a "Sad Tennant" on there it isn't showing up on my end.  You might have removed it when you tried to change it, @VenomXXR

Where did all these theatres for every big release come from? Were there are a couple hundred that just opened in the last year all of a sudden?
