That is two weekends away, so room for continued improvement/more Regal.  But, I dunno.  Wondering if this is showing that 100m OW for Black Widow was a pipe dream after all.  Or at least a very very tough hill to climb.

 

The sheer number of screens set aside for it might have done the trick.  On the other hand, has capacity really increased that much?  Even with more Regal on the way and NYC jumping up to 33% next week.

 

Gut says "no" but I'd be curious what the trackers who are paying much more attention to total capacity than I would think.

Ive mentioned it before, but I can only imagine financial depts of the studios for films like bw and "tentpole" movies this year really trying to anticipate whether its better to do film only, stream only or stream/film opening. Its moving parts financially as studios try to figure how to best get the movie out and watching their various city/state/province rules and how they change and what opens up and doesnt. 

 

Trackers for the various studios have to be definitely making their paycheque right now, because they know if they make a call and the studios take that action and they blow because things changed, theyre going to be on a hotseat.

No good comps for this, but FWIW, GvK OD was at 4773 tickets sold at 10PM the day before. So DS is at about 68% of it right as previews start(straight comp would be about 6.5M), and will have a lower amount of walkups. So if I were to guess, take off somewhere around a million from the comp, and mid 5Ms is where I'd end up. Not an exact science, but eh, maybe it'll work.

It's hard to compare this to GvK since there are previews for this. But I honestly expected some more for Friday, especially over a 31 hour period. GvK did over 1800 tickets during the about same time frame, but again, DS has previews. We'll see what key's numbers show.

MK is on par with GVK in MTC1 though behind on MTC2. I think PWP sales will be on par with GVK and so with strong walk ups it could end up having OD > GVK.

I doubt so, even a non-fan driven film like Nobody only managed to +1.2% in first sat, I doubt DS can jump from Friday, especially when that number is already that big.

PS for saturday is comfortably ahead of Friday PS at the same point plus walk ups will be better on saturday as morning shows will do better. I think increase will happen.
