Black Panther 1,213 2,398 50.6%

 

 

Black Panther has surpassed IT is preview sales at my theater. It will surpass Wonder Woman's 1,270 ticket sales in by early afternoon today probably. It will then only be behind Star Wars: The Last Jedi's 2,371 tickets sold.

Tonight at my theater:

 

Early Man: 9/78 (this is only doing previews at 5)

 

Black Panther:

 

7:00: 85/113

7:15 3D: 16/69

7:30: 32/78

7:45 3D: 45/78

8:00 3D: 5/60

8:15: 38/78

8:30: 17/63

8:45: 13/78

9:15: 15/78

Total: 266/695

 

Ragnarok only had four shows the morning of previews with two added later in the day, so BP is way ahead of it with capacity. When comparing it to the morning sales, BP is running at 140% of Ragnarok (171.8M). This is also on par with what Fifty Shades finished with last Thursday :lol:

The only comparison I have at the reserved seating theater near me is what It ended Thursday night with. Early Man has previews tonight starting at 5pm, but it has sold nothing for today and the rest of the weekend.

P.S. The Sunday 11:20 PM show was removed, which is why the totals are different.

 

Regardless, this film's 3-Day, with only one day left until previews, the only good comp I have, sold tickets-wise is TLJ, which is 115% of that film, which equals to an OW of...$254.2 million

 

Now I should mention that the theater I'm tracking generally gets a huge chunk of black customers (It got Marshall and Roman Israel over all of the other specialty movies this year, and Proud Mary is still playing here), so this does have a huge amount of bias towards BP's favor, so definitely don't expect this to make over TLJ, but still...

Now it's 122.4% of TLJ ($269.3M) Lawd, I wish it could go that high, but this is still showing that King T'Challa's coming and snatching some records.

Black Panther:

 

7:00: 93/113 (+8)

7:15 3D: 22/69 (+6)

7:30: 51/78 (+19)

7:45 3D: 45/78

8:00 3D: 22/60 (+17)

8:15: 42/78 (+4)

8:30: 29/63 (+13)

8:45: 27/78 (+14)

9:15: 37/78 (+22)

Total: 369/695 (+103) (nice @aabattery)

 

This has now surpassed what Ragnarok finished with. Using the earliest comps before previews that I have, that translates to 130% (165.6M) :jeb!:

Going to post a mid-day update in bit, but I have an observation to make now.

 

Whoever it was that decided to have the "Opening Night Fan Event" be 3D only made a HUUUUUUUGE mistake, as they look to be leaving a lot of money on the table.

 

Coz when I am seeing a showing still have only 10 seats sold for it in one of the better theaters in town (Folsom Palladio), I  know something is wrong.

 

Yes, Century Arden sold out its showing, and has for ages. But they're selling tickets like crazy there, so that's to be expected. :lol:

TLJ's Opening Night Fan Event was not 3D only though.  Not locally at least.

And I would expect your theater to be less than alot, frankly.

Same here! I know some old lady was groaning at the Noovie promo at one of my movies recently (The Post?), so I'm pleasantly surprised with how it's looking. The locally owned chain is only giving it a single screen, which is a gigantic fucking mistake. Gonna be absolute hell trying to see it this weekend because my dad doesn't like AMC's recliners.

Early Man finished with 9 tickets. Comps:

 

40% of MLP (3.6M)

60% of The Star (5.9M)

80% of Paddington (9M)

110% of Ferdinand (14.7M)

 

Given the lack of sales tomorrow and the fact only two groups of people saw tonight's show, lean on it being that Star comp.
